I have had my Visio 47" for 3 years. One night the screen just went blank. I could not turn it off with the remote. I manually tuned it off. then used the remote to turn it on. The Visio light and menu bar lit up but not the screen. No sound and no picture. The Dish Rep. came out and checked it out and got the same results.I bought it at Costco. What can I do?

Our Visio 42" flat screen TV did the same thing. It didn't happen that often but sometimes it would go darker or the sound would go off until I changed the channel or turned TV Off then back On. I contacted Visio through my warranty and they sent me a flash drive to install info on my TV. Did not fix the problems. A year later before warranty ended I contacted Visio again. They sent a huge box for me to pack my TV in to send to the warehouse where they fix everything. It took about 2 wks. to get it back. Worked fine for about 4 months and the problems continued. I will not buy another Visio TV. I found out that they had many problems with several models.

Could be main AV board not receiving the proper voltage due to a failing capacitor or power transistor. So I suspect a PSU failure.

Sounds like a main board issue. With a black screen and no remote functions . Does the Vizio logo stay white or orange?

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

your tv is simply processing the signal the way it was designed to ok mine does the same thing no problems just annoying thats all

Dont buy VISIO. I'm having the same problem with my 42". And it also is only 3 years old.

Wharfedale LCD3210HDAF this tv was working fine the night before .. when i turned it on in the morning the screen came on then instantly went blank .. although the sound is fine i am unable to get any on screen including menu an volume information and of course can any one help ??

It sound like the main board has gone bad. Replace the board will fix it.

If it were a Tivo series 3 you might have better luck with it.

I've had my series 2 Tivo for about 2 1/2 years and never found the correct codes for it. I think it works off of a list of TVs manufactures about 3 years ago.
