Sounds like an internal prob within the reciever, since recievers have radio tuners in em, maybe a prob in the input switching in it. I assume you are running unbalanced rca cables out of the dvd player into the reciever as it probably doesn't have balanced input capability, unbalanced lines are susceptible to R.F.I. ( radio frequency interference ) but I doubt if that's the problem here unless maybe you are running very long cable lengths from the dvd player to the reciever. Try using a different input and see if the problems still there, can use any input other than phonograph really as they are all line level inputs.

On my YAMAHA RX-V663 The radio has set itself to play permanently on zone 2, and I cant turn it off.

“The radio has set itself to play permanently on zone 2, and I cant turn it off.” Download RXV633(YAMAHA RXV663) service manual to look for how to reset the amp. If reset does not solve the problem, matrix circuit on front panel is a main concern. Bear in mind, both Denon & Yamaha CPUs to control switching (matrix)circuit are multi-tasking, comparing Onkyo & Pioneer. Chance of CPU problem is very very low. Fixing matrix circuit is of paramount important.

How do you set time/date?

Hi, do you have the MiniTuner module in the radio? You need that in, and the antenna connected facing the SW horizon. Turn on to SATellite. Adjust antenna so that you can hear Channel 1 clearly. After you hear channel 1, the satellite will send a time signal. Then go to MENU, select Adjust time and pick your time zone and if you are on Daylight Savings time. Then, menu to exit out. Your satellite signal will keep the time updated when in Satellite mode.
I don't know if that will also set the regular clock too, or just only the time while in satellite mode. Let me know how you do with it.

How to set swr galaxy dx 949

you do not "set" swr.you cannot set it on the radio. the radio can tell you what yourswr is. it can take an swr measurement. swr has to do with the antenna system. in order for the radio waves to radiate from the antenna properly, the physical length of the antenna must match the length of the radio waves. if the antenna is too long or too short you will have a higher swr ratio. the higher the ratio the less energy will leave the antenna. but that energy needs to go somewhere, so it goes back into the radio which causes damage and can ruin a radio.

first turn the channel to 20. then switch the meter switch to CAL. then key the radio. while keyed, turn the CAL knob up until the needle in the meter gets right to the CAL Mark. next flip the meter switch and key the radio. where ever he needle is, is what your swr is.if it is more the 1.5 that's getting high. if its over 2 you are in the danger zone. if its over 3 you are damaging your radio. you must repeat the calibration proceedure for every channel.to figure out weather your antenna is too long or short, you compare the swr readings from channel 1 and ch 40. if the swr is higher in 1 then on 40 the entenna is too short. if its higher on 40 then 1 its to long.

I recently bought a NR1501 receiver and a CD5004 CD player at the same time. I don't use the tuner as I have a separate DAB radio. I use the Aux2 source for the radio input and the CD source for the CD...

How did you isolate it to the CD player?

Of course you know that this fault lies in the realm of the Twilight Zone as no 'intelligence' or commands are exchanged between the units via their RCA cables.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Marantz-NR1501-Receivers-manual/id/23506ag717/t/2/

I'd try to eliminate the posibility that erroneous remote control commands are getting into the receiver from somewhere, either your own remotes or some other I/R source. Block the I/R sensor on the receiver and see if it switches spontaneously. You may haved a rogue I/R source in the room.

Do not allow direct sunlight, an inverter fluorescent light or other strong source of light to shine onto the player's infrared receptor window. Otherwise, the operation of the remote controller may be disabled.

• Bear in mind that operating the remote controller may cause other devices operated by infrared rays to be operated by mistake.

• The remote controller cannot be operated if the space between the controller and the player's infrared receptor window is obstructed.

• Do not place any objects on top of the remote controller.

Doing so may cause one or more buttons to be held down which will cause the batteries to run down.
