Kenmore Series 80 Dryer won't start after Circuit breaker was tripped

A breaker thrown that many times indicates a serious electrical problem. You need to have the problem taken care of by an electrician. You should be worried about the safety of yourself and your family.
That being said, I would guess that breaker has gone bad and needs to be replaced.

70 Series Dryer will not start. Checked breaker box. Unplugged unit and checked connections and cleaned out built up lint dust. Door is sealed properly and light inside dryer is still on when door is

Check the motor for a blown fuse or circuit breaker attached to it, maybe a wire is disconnected from it. Another thing to look at is the actual switch on the top. Is it making good contact? Does it have a fuse or circuit breaker attached? Is it getting power?

DRYER DOES NOT DO ANYTHING

Check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer would not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

Dryer will not start sometimes, could this be the on off swith?

When a dryer won't run, there are several things to consider:
  • Is the circuit breaker thrown? Can you read 240 volts at the wall plug?
  • Are the wires at the power cord burned? (Very common)
  • Can you read continuity thru the door switch? Does the door switch click when closed?
  • Check for a belt switch near the motor....this will cause the dryer not to run if open.
  • Have you checked the thermal fuse?
  • ===you need a good meter to check all of this=======

Whirl pool dryer LEC9000PW0 will not turn on

Has a household fuse blown or has a circuit breaker tripped?
There may be 2 household fuses or circuit breakers for the dryer. Make sure both fuses are intact and tight, or that both circuit breakers have not tripped. Replace the fuse(s) or reset the circuit breaker(s). If the problem continues, call an electrician.
Is the correct power supply available? (Electric dryers only)
Electric dryers require 240-volt power supply. Check with a qualified electrician.
Is the dryer door firmly closed?
Your dryer door may not be fully closed. It may look shut, but may not be latched. Push on the door to engage the latch or latches. Some models have an upper and lower latch. Both latches must be secure for the dryer to run.
Was the Start, Push to Start or Hold to Start button firmly pressed?
Large loads may require the Start, Push to Start, or Hold to Start button to be pressed and held for two to five seconds.
Is the Cycle Control knob set on a Sensor Dry or Timed Dry cycle? (on some models)
The Cycle Control knob must be set in a Automatic Dry or AccudryTM or Timed Dry cycle. The dryer will not start if set on the Wrinkle ShieldTM option.
Is Controls Locked status light on? (on some models)
Press and hold the Cycle Signal button for three seconds. This will turn off the Controls Locked feature.
Did you recently install a power supply cord on the dryer? (Electric dryers only)
The power supply cord may be incorrectly installed. If the power cord is incorrectly installed, the dryer may not start or heat. Review the Installation Instructions to check that the power supply cord is properly installed.

Dryer shut off towels were not yet dry, turned dial to restart dryer acts as if it isn't getting power I closed door and pushed start button. Nothing! Checked breakers and power cord at outlet all checked...

Hello mdonettaYou said,
Dryer shut off towels were not yet dry, turned dial to restart dryer acts as if it isn't getting power I closed door and pushed start button. Nothing! Checked breakers and power cord at outlet all checked okay. Any ideas.

yes, try unplugging the power cord or turning off the breaker for 5 minutes. Either will due. Some times the system needs to be reset!
If this does not work there are internal fuses that can be replaced!

Let me know how it goes!

MY MAYTAG DRYER DOES NOT WORK WHEN I TRY TO START IT. THE LIGHT TURNS ON WHEN I OPEN THE DOOR HOWEVER. THE DRYER IS 4 YEARS OLD.

try this first:
  • turn off the dryer circuit breaker in the house then turn it back on. sometimes the dual breaker will trip on only one side leaving you with a non functioning machine that seems to have power.
  • also check the door switch and make sure it is clicking when you slowly close the door.
if you already checked this and think it is a different problem then let me know, i will help you figure it out.
