A white screen display on my laptop - ASUS LCD Monitor

if possible plug in to a external monitor if the display on the ext. monitor is white is likely video chip on motherboard. if its white the second you turn it on try the above. found here

Replace lcd screen?

your problem is there are 4 possibilities.
1 - LCD problem
2 - problem with LCD cable
3 - inverter problems.
4. display card problem

to identify the problem, you have to do troubleshooting.
1 - The first thing you should connect the external display (monitor) on buieldin display
If display appear in a normal on an external display, this means that there is no problem on display card.

2 - If you have identified the problem not the display card, you have to do further troubleshooting process by opening the cover lcd screen on your laptop, and perform troubleshooting of hardware one by one in the list.
1 - LCD screen
2 - Inverter
3 - LCD Cable

after you do all of these processes will know your results.
Normally the problem is the lcd screen.

The white screen you are getting is it just right after turning on the computer? If yes it means that you were not able to see the Dell logo correct?

Try connecting an external monitor thru VGA. While monitor and laptop is on with white screen please do this. Hold down Fn key then press F8 at the same time. This will toggle the display from the laptop to external monitor. If laptop displays to external monitor means that laptop LCD needs to be replaced.

If you do not have an external monitor try this.
While laptop is OFF. Do this. Hold down the D key then press power button at the same time.
Check if the laptop will display colors the whole screen. If you still see white screen then LCD needs replacement.

LCD mean LCD panel or the whole screen together with LCD cable and Inverter.

If the test LCD works with the motherboard, then the laptop's screen needs replacing; otherwise, a new motherboard is needed because there is no way to replace an integrated graphics card on a laptop motherboard.

First, to verify if it is your display adapter, connect an external monitor to your laptop and see if it displays fine. If it is fine on the monitor, then we know that it is from your laptop screen(in this case, it is either you first check from a technician if it is the colour that has to be refilled or if you need to purchase a new screen). If not then it is from your display adapter(could be from corrupt display drivers). In this case, you would have to re-install new drivers for your display adapter(you can download it from your system manufacturer's website if you don't already have it).
