https://h30434.www3.hp.com/

no PC stated, my guess not HP puter.!!!
NO OS stated. (not all OS caN RUN IT)
only THIS
5187-7583 this is a reclic PS2 keyboard, Ill quote HP:"
HP Multi-Media keyboard 5187-7583 uses a PS/2 connector, and is over a decade old.

do not move PS2 devices from one maker to other. ever.
they are not standardizes like USB are.

WE STOPPED USING ps2 DEVICE IN THE LAST CENTURY
Why are you using this? now, in 2017
did you know, (can prove it) that some PCs cant even send enough power to many PS2 devices,
that is because it is NOT THERE device.

solved, buy USB devices.
and end any usage of XP now. for ever.
and win.

Effect of sleep button

Hi a_hedges,

Sleep is a power-saving state that allows a computer to quickly resume full-power operation (typically within several seconds) when you want to start working again. Putting your computer into the sleep state is like pausing a DVD player-the computer immediately stops what it's doing and is ready to start again when you want to resume working.

When a computer is in Sleep mode, the power light is blinking and you get a blank screen like it's turned OFF.

On most computers, you can resume working by pressing your computer's power button. However, not all computers are the same. You might be able to wake your computer by pressing any key on the keyboard, clicking a mouse button, or opening the lid on a laptop. Check the documentation that came with your computer or go to the manufacturer's website.

Hope this helps.

Mouse sensitivity is slow.i want more then more speed of mouse pointer,i already search but nothing...pleas SIR

These are the steps to change the mouse sensitivity

Click on the "Start" button in the lower left corner of your computer screen to open the Start menu so you can change the mouse sensitivity. Locate the control panel link on the right-hand column of the Start menu and click on the link.

Wait for the Control Panel manu to open and then locate the "Search Control Panel" bar at the top of the menu on the the right-hand side. Type in "mouse" (no quote marks) in the window and locate the mouse menu at the top, left side of the menu.

Locate the link that says "Change Button Settings" at the bottom of the mouse menu and click on the link. When the mouse properties window appears, locate the tabs at the top of the window and find the one that says "Pointer Options."

Click on the "Pointer Options" window tab and locate the heading that says "Motion." In the Motion section, find the slide ajustment bar that is labeled "Slow" on the left side and "Fast" on the right side of the bar.

Move the bar according to your desired speed and preferences, and click on the "Apply" button on the lower right-hand side of the window.

Click the "OK" button on the lower left-hand side of the window, which will take you back to the default window. Verify that the mouse sensitivity is according to your needs and readjust if necessary by repeating these steps.

Good luck

My keyboard has a quarter moon on a round button top left what is this

Hey,
that is very likely the sleep button, it puts the computer into a low power sleep state, which you can turn it back on by pressing any button or mouse.
just let it go to sleep first before you start pressing other buttons again.
if its not coming up press on the power button once and it wakes up.
let me know if you have any other questions.

To wake it up,first try just quickly pressing the power switch on front. If worse comes to worse, just turn it off by holding the power button in until the pc shuts down & simply power it back on. Then you'll be able to get into windows & make the proper adjustments for the power settings you want & be able to configure the keyboard to put the pc to sleep or wake it. The above link is straight from hp,reguarding the same issue. I gave it to you for reference.

My Computer boots and montitor says Going to sleep and flashes VGA : NO signal and goes off

Check under "Power Options" of the control panel of Windows that "Turn off Monitor" is set to "Never" Also check under the advanced tab of "Power options" that "When I press the sleep button on my computer" its set to "Do Nothing"

This will most likely solve your problem. the sleep button may be stuck on the keyboard causing the pc to quickly go into sleep mode
