Relativity easy to do yourself, but better if you have some one to help, all you need is a Philips head screwdriver, and the replacement screens, the technical name for them are Lenticular Screen, and Fresnel, one is white, and the other is black.

You start by taking off the screws in the back of the the TV, there are screws along the top, both sides, and there are two on the the bottom right, and two on the bottom left, and there are three on the front by the power and channel and volume buttons. then grab one side and have your partner grab the other, and pull straight off.

IMPORTANT!!!!! DO NOT TOUCH THE WHITE SCREEN WITH YOUR BARE HANDS, IT IS COVERED WITH A POWDER AND CANNOT COME INTO CONTACT WITH ANY FLUIDS, INCLUDING THE OIL ON YOUR HANDS!

There are four bars that hold the screens in, one on top, bottom left and right. to remove the top, left and right you have to wiggle them loose after removing the screws.

The Black screen will go in first, make sure that the smooth side is what you will be looking at when you are done, the white screen will go right on top of it, the rough side of the white screen will meet with the rough side of the black screen.

then put the screen assembly back on, and replace screws.

I hope this helps, if you have any questions, let me know.

The screen shield of my mitsubishi HD 1080 diamond projection tv is scratched and shows rainbow color dots in some places. What can I do? Can I fix it? Replace it?

The outer screen on most models is clear and called a protective screen and prevents glare---if it has that it has 2 more screens behind it.

Getting at the outer on is not so easy---the entire frame for the screens has to be removed, the inner screens removed to get at the outer screen to remove it (if 3 screens you can do without the outer one except if it got scratched before--next will be the next screen behind it.

Check with mitsubishi to see if the screen that is damaged is available or not.

Will replacing the inner screen of my lcd tv fix the damage done by wii remote? outer screen is not damaged

You need a replacement panel. Most people will not even bother as the cost of a replacement panel could easily exceed the value of the TV

Where can I get a replacement plactic screen cover

This set has 3 screens---the outer one is really only for glare--clear plexigalss--no longer available from Sony.

Sony 4-070-602-01
SCREEN, FRESNEL Sony 4-064-343-11
SCREEN, LENTICULAR Sony 4-058-894-11
SCREEN, PROTECTION (CONTRAST)Outer one is (Contrast) the other two inner ones are showing as available and about 180 each.

You would have to either have someone dismantle or do it yourself---most of these sets you have to remove all three screens from the rear of the set---then remove the outer contrast one if it is scratched or cracked--

If you get it out and measure it: It is possible you may be able to find a company who can cut you a plexi-glass piece to replace it with--lots of work to do this and you have to use extreme care when you remove the two inner screens--easy to damage them---Usually the inner two are taped along all the edges to keep dust etc from getting between them and the front one is a short distance forward of them.

The front protective screen is really only there for glare and to protect the inner screens from damage---I have seen people who had a cracked outer one just dismantle and remove that one---put the others back and use the set that way---have to be careful as the inner screens are easy to scratch or damage with the outer one removed.

Also---I have seen several where someone removed the outer one and got a piece of plexi glass big enough to put on the outside of the front of the set---secured all around the edges with velcro--does not look as good as the original but prevents glare and protects the inner screens.

If this told you something you did not know or helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Inner TV screen damaged

In order to provide you with the correct part numbers, I will need the remainder of the model number. There should be a couple of numbers after the HX in the model number. Please post the entire model number here and I'll get the part numbers and cost.

Thanks,
Dan

How do I remove the outer protective screen on my Mitsubishi WS-55315?

There are trim pieces around the edges that can be removed by sliding a knife underneath and lightly prying. They should remove fairly easily, don't force them as they may break. Use the knife on the cabinet side and pry toward the center of the screen.

The tear on the inner screen may be best left as is.

lexan would be better than plexi as it is tougher, but try to get anti-glare if possible. Anti-glare plexi would be better than regular lexan.

Screen replacement

I replaced the screen on my 62 inch projection TV for about $50 and the the picture quality is good! Have a sheet of plexiglass cut to the EXACT size needed. BEFORE installation it MUST be frosted on both sides by either a fine particle sandblaster or by sanding it VERTICALLY on BOTH sides with a power sander and a fine grade paper.
If this is only an OUTER protective screen and the image is projected on the inner screen then DO NOT frost the replacement screen, just install it.

Samsung HLS5086W - spider crack on outer screen

The outer screen is called a Lenticular screen, it may come as a set with the Fresnel (the inner, and the way I would actually go) the screen is very hard to replace usually on a DLP as they have a somewhat sealed upper side and alot of screws.
