Flashing yellow light on Dell Monitor - what does it mean?

Here's some tricks I would try. Something here, might help...
1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.

Flashing yellow light usually means it is not getting the video signal from the PC, try it on other PC first to narrow it down the problem, bad VGA cable can also be the cause, last will be problem in the monitor itself which you will need to open up to inspect the inside. Make sure you set up your laptop to display to a second screen. Depending on your Operating system, go to your display properties and go to the settings tab. Then click on the second monitor and enable it.
