Ok first you click on wifi settings from there I think it should ask you for an e-mail and password. After that continue on you should be seeing a list of different wi-fi connections from all around your neighborhood street or apartments whichever. You can either choose one wi-fi connection from the list or create your own. I had trouble with ym wi-fi too at first but it works now.

I don't have a Cruz Reader in front of me so I'm going from memory on android devices.

menu button->settings->wireless & networks

make sure there's a check mark next to wifi and then select wifi settings.

here your available networks should be listed. Select the network you would like and use the on screen keyboard to enter the security key if applicable. Select connect and the reader should connect to the wireless network.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions

Wifi connecting

When creating a connection to internet, you need a point (read : router) which facilitates this. If you don't have a router in your neighbourhood, you can't connect to the internet. Even if there is one near you, you must be able to see it, by checking at your tablet for wireless connections. However, some routers are set to accept only connections, when a user ( your tablet) can provide this password everytime it tries to connect to the internet.

Schematic of internetconnection :

Tablet --- WiFi Router --- Modem --- Internet(provider).

How to unlock

Depending on the firmware revision you may be able to reset the password through Google Authentication so first your tablet must:
1. Have been registered with a Google Account
2. Be connected to the internet
3. Have the latest version of Cruz Reader Firmware

If the above is try, try the following to reset the pattern:
1. Try to unlock the pattern 3 to 5 times until you see "Forgot Pattern" pop-up
2. Click on the "Forgot Pattern link
3. Follow the steps to reset the pattern

Cruz reader r101 will not load web pages

Is your ADSL correctly set up for WIFI?
Have you got the encryption (WEP?) key to enter into the T101? Your ADSL will not connect unless the identical key stored in your ADSL parameter set are correctly entered from the 'keyboard' on the T101.
If you go into T101 Wi-Fi settings, you will see a list of networks, one of those should be yours, just connect to it.
Hope that is of some help, or just a pointer in the direction you want to go. -Good luck!!

I can connect too the wifi , but cannot connect the log on the internet

Mine does this too. People r saying to reset it. If that doesn't work it's a corrupt installation and you have to reset everything.

Android tablet keeps getting error when trying to connect to the net. process com.andriod.browser has stopped unexpectedly.

Personally I'd flash it. I think you've got something corrupted in your system and its being triggered when you attempt to access the browser. Alternatively you can try downloading a different browser (http://www.4shared.com/android/ki088UbS/Dolphin_Browser_v200.htm) click download now wait the 20 seconds and an apk will show up for you to install. You will have to set your reader to accept outside downloads its in settings. Yea other than that do a full flash. Go to the support section of the cruz website and you'll be following the process for upgrading the firmware.
good luck

How do you restor you cruz r101 to factory default

The easiest way to restore the Cruz Reader to factory defaults is to update to the newest firmware which can be downloaded from here. The instructions for doing the upgrade are also explained on the link above.

This will revert everything back to original condition leaving any information on the internal and external memory cards intact. If you are looking to clear those as well you can do so by formatting the cards by going to Settings->Storage (might say SD card)->Unmount->Format. You can also take the cards out and put them in your computer and use the computer to format them.

The process is pretty of upgrading the firmware is pretty simple even though it might be intimidating. Let me know if you have any more questions

Hope this helps

I turned the Cruz Reader off and I can not get it to turn back on. I tried to charge it but no light will come on. Any suggestions?

Taken from Velocity Micro Support Center:
What should I do if my Cruz device will not turn on?

If your Cruz device will not turn on or freezes, follow the steps below to resolve this:
  • Locate the Cruz RESET location between the Power Button and mini-USB port.
  • Using the straightened end of a small paperclip, insert it perpendicularly into the RESET hole and hold for 5 seconds.
  • Turn on your Cruz
If the steps above do not allow you to power on again, then continue with the steps below:
  • Remove the Cruz from the charger and eject the External SD card.
  • Place the Cruz face down on the desk, starting at the External SD slot, pull off the back cover of your Cruz.
  • In the lower left corner of the back of your Cruz, locate the battery power cable. Unplug the cable and replug it again.
  • Return the back cover to your Cruz and snap it into place.
  • Re-insert your External SD card and power on your Cruz.
