SOURCE: HP Photosmart C6180 goes Offline in Vista

Solution A:

Download and install this Critical Update for your printer directly from HP.

Solution B:

There have been cases where if the PC is turned off or goes into hibernate this can occur. To work around this issue the "HP CUE DeviceDescovery Service" must be disabled:

1) Click on the "Start Menu" icon on the bottom left corner of the screen, type "services.msc" in the "Start Search" edit box, and hit enter. This will trigger Vista to pop-up a "User Account Control" dialog to prompt for permission to continue. Click "Continue" to allow Vista to open the Services management console application.

2) The Services management console application is made up of 2 panels. The right panel contains a list of all services available on the system. Scroll thru this list and look for a service called "HP CUE DeviceDiscovery Service".

3) Right-click on "HP CUE DeviceDiscovery Service" and select "Properties" to open the "HP CUE DeviceDiscovery Service Properties" dialog.

4) From the "HP CUE DeviceDiscovery Service Properties" dialog, click on the "General" tab. If the "Service status" shows that the service has started, click on the "Stop" button to force the service to stop.

5) Change the "Start type" to "Disabled" and click on the "OK" button on the bottom of the dialog to apply the changes.

Solution C:

1. Set the printer to a static IP address
2. Logon to the machine as the administrator or with admin rights.
3. Remove/Reinstall the printer using the IP address

Why Does My HP Printer Keep Going Offline?

On encountering offline printer error, users often wonder why does my HP printer keep going offline. Well, there are various reasons why it happens. Some of the prominent causes for printer offline issues include jammed paper, faulty cable or connection, enabled offline mode, outdated firmware, and out-of-date drivers. My kodak 7250 printed from the laptop wirelessly before we moved across town. Now says disconnected

If the printer is not connecting to the wireless router, you need to address that problem first. It wasn't clear from your problem description whether or not that is the case. If the printer is getting a successful wifi connection then you may need to delete the printer from your PC and re-add it.

My kodak ESP 7250 printer will not print wirelessly from one of my laptops..It say cannot connect to network on the laptop when I try to print.. My desktop and other laptop prints fine on it.Help I have...

This is one of the common connectivity issues marring the benefits of having a wireless printer. In this situation your printer will not print when connected wirelessly but would need you to set it up with your system using a USB cable. Try resetting the IP of your system to what is mentioned in the printer and in case there is a router connecting your printer and system then use the IP address of router and put it in your system. This should help you fix this printer issue.

Instal hp dekjet 1280 with hp wireless printing upgrade kit in windos 7

Wireless printers may face an installation problem with Windows 7 operating system. For example, Toshiba laptop is compatible with this operating system yet it may require a driver download for executing a print command on wireless printer. To combat this challenge, users are advised to delete and re-install the printer. If the problem persists assign the wireless printer to a fixed address through a router instead of the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). Accessing the wireless printer from a laptop with Windows 7 operating system can be a challenge. Often, it may display the printer to be offline. To resolve the issue, users must cancel printing jobs immediately and delete offline printers from the Printers option in the Control Panel. Visit the Printer properties and access the Ports tab, delete the printer that displays the offline status and appears as Client Side Rendering Provider. Delete the Port button and click apply. Restart the PC. Now re-install the wireless printer by visiting the Control panel, opening Printers and clicking option add a printer. Now select add a local printer, followed by selecting the option "Use an existing port", LPT1: (Printer Port). Install the printer driver offered by Windows 7. In the next window leave the Set as a default printer box unchecked and re-name the printer. Click Next. Upon successful installation, the operating system will display the message "You've successfully added printer name"

I have a 2 1/2 yr. old Toshiba lap top with operating system: VISTA. It is connected to an HP C6280 all in one printer. I cannot get the printer to print and what I am seeing is that my printer is...

Hi Ed,

HP Printer/Vista conflicts are legendary. Epics will be written about them. :) It's highly likely that an HP Update fouled Vista, or a Vista Update fouled HP.

The surest way to get your printer back is:

1. Go to HP Support and download the Full Software for your model printer and save it to the desktop.
2. Uninstall every HP application in the Control Panel that came with the printer, starting with the main printer software itself.
3. Hold down the Wndows Logo button on your keyboard and press the R key. A command window will open. Type in %TEMP% and hit the enter key. Your Temp File folder will appear. Delete EVERYTHING in the Temp Folder that Vista will let you delete.
4. Reboot your computer.
5. Double click on the HP Software install .exe file you downloaded to your desktop. Install the printer again as if it was the first time.

You should be good to go.

Be well.
