No singular answer. Here are some of the things to try, following by links depicting details: 1) Update audio drivers via device manager or 3rd party ware 2) Change sound quality by altering Speaker properties via Sound icon on task bar 3) Change Loudness Equalization of Speakers in Enhancement tab of Speaker Properties 4) Run Audio Troubleshooter 5) Use Windows Volume Mixer to increase sound 6) In Sound, change Communications tab to Do Nothing 7) Try different audio device 8) Try VLC and adjust it to boost volume 9) In Chrome, use Volume Boosting extension 10) Clean speakers 11) Increase Media Player sound

If it is dependent on the audio output level (does not "cut-out" so much if the "volume/loudspeaker audio output level" is set low..) then it's likely the common power supply "sagging" ... (as with low voltage/capacity batteries) or say failing in power supply decoupling between the audio output and low level control and receiving circuits..

Is there a "audio out fixed/variable" in sound menu? If there is, this would output 'line level audio' vs. variable level by TV volume control.

Have you pulled the error codes?

1- Turn Ignition switch to OFF & Run/Stop switch is to Run.
2- Push odometer reset button in & hold.
3- Turn ignition switch to Ignition and release odometer reset button. Background lighting sould illuminate, speedometer needle should sweep its full range and indicator lamps (battery, security, low fuel, check engine and cruise) should illuminate. The word "diag" should then appear.
4 - Push the odometer reset button once and you will see the selection menu "PSSPt" with the first P flashing.
5 - Each letter represents an area of the diagnostics module. The module that is flashing is the one you are going to check. To move from one letter (module) to the next, you push the odometer reset button one time. (from P to S to SP to t and back to P, etc.)
P = ECM/ICM (Electronic Control Module [EFI] / Ignition Control Module [Carbureted])
S = TSM/TSSM (Turn Signal/ Turn Signal Security Module)
SP = speedometer
T = tachometer
6 - To get the DTC within an area of diagnostics, push and hold the odometer reset button in for 5 seconds and release. If there are any DTC's the code will be displayed or the word "none" will appear if there are no DTC's. Push the odometer reset button again to view additional codes if they exist.
7 - Record the codes.
8 - If DTC's are not to be cleared, Press and release the odometer reset button. Part number of module will be displayed.
NOTE: To determine if a code is current or historic, clear the displayed code by pushing in and holding the odometer reset button ( longer than 5 seconds) until 'clear' comes up. Release the odometer reset button. Turn OFF the ignition switch. Run your bike and shut it down then recheck the DTC's again by repeating steps 1 to 9. If the code is current it will reappear.
9 - Press and release the odometer reset button to continue to the next module.
10 - Turn Ignition switch to OFF.

It sound like a bad reostat in the volume control. if its under warranty send unit back to kenwood and have them replace the volume control, and possible speaker involvement.

I had a similar problem and opened the box and blew out a ton of dust. Still don't know what the problem was, but the sound came back.

The first letter: A = Ge material semiconductors, B = Si material semiconductors, C = GaAs material semiconductors, R = Compound material. The second letter: A = Diode (low power, signal); B = Diode (variable capacitance)); C = Transistor (low power, audio frequency); D = Transistor (power, audio frequency); F = Transistor (low power, high frequency); L = Transistor (power, high frequency); R= control and swithching device); S = Transistor (low power, swithching); T = thyristors; U = Transistor (power, switching); X = Diode (varactor, multiplier); Y = Diode (rectifier); Z = Diode (zener). So the BC547 is a Silicon low power, audio frequency transistor. Hope that helps!
