Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

hope this will help don

Gateway MT6840 unexpectedly shut down and wouldn't

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

I need to reboot my laptop but i don't know how

Reboot essentially means restarting the computer. This is two types
1. Warm Reboot: where you go to start on windows task bar and choose shut down but when prompted choose restart. This way computer shuts down momentarily and restarts!
2. Cold Reboot: By this means you choose to shut down and again when prompted choose shut down! This makes computer off completely until restart by pressing power button.
Booting is computer Lingo for above procedures!

How do i reboot my computer? By rebooting it, will that help with the freezing and speed it up?

On XP, go to Start->Shut Down->select restart from the menu that comes up->click"Ok"
You can also hit ctrl+alt+delete then select shut down from there.

If your computer has not been rebooted in a while, it does help with speed issues

How to reboot computer

hi
  • Decide what kind of reboot you are going to do. A soft reboot is performed the way you are “supposed” to do it. For a soft Windows reboot, go to the Start menu and select “Shut Down” or “Restart.” The computer will then shut itself down. Clicking “Restart” makes it boot up without further intervention from you.
  • Step 2 Perform a hard reboot by pushing the computer’s power button and holding it until the computer shuts down. Wait 45 seconds and restart the computer by pushing the power button again. You may have to start up in safe mode, but that also allows you the chance to restart properly or work on programs in a safer way. This method may cause you to lose data or mess up the operation of some of your programs. But it may be the only option if your computer's hard drive is frozen.
  • Step 3 Power down all of the computer's components. Shut off all of the peripherals you have attached to your computer, and disconnect the cables. Then, plug all of the peripherals back in, and restart your computer. This can often solve problems with your hard drive.
  • Step 4 Purchase and install a program such as Drive Reboot Restore PC 6.0 that streamlines the hard drive reboot process. These applications help prevent the problems that can develop after repeated computer use. They also ensure that your hard drive maintains the configuration you want each time you turn it on.
  • Step 5 Investigate what the problem may be with your hard drive. Because of its delicate nature, your hard drive can very easily be thrown off.

I want to reboot my computer acer. How can I do that

Reboot basically means to "restart" the computer. You have a soft reboot which means hitting the reset button on the front of the computer or going to the start, shut down, restart computer. A hard reboot is shutting the system off completely and then turning it back on.

My computer won't shut down it just keeps restarting

The most common shut down problem is that the system will reboot rather than shutting down. In most cases, the reboot is triggered because Windows XP is designed to reboot after a critical failure. To stop windows from rebooting in case of a failure, you need to take the following steps:
Right click on My Computer, Select Properties, Click on advance tab, Click on Settings under Startup and Recovery, Uncheck the option Automatically Restart under System failure, Click Ok twice and try to shutdown the pc. If it shows any error code then let me know
