Error code 3600:0749 dell inspiron 1501 . Result is the same if it runs on battery or AC alone (no battery in laptop).

try to remove the battery from the computer, after unplugging it, plug in the AC adapter without the battery and check if it will turn on. if it doesnt then 2 possible reason
1. the AC adapter is busted, you can try a known good Dell AC adapter. if its still now working with a know good AC adapter then
2. its the motherboard that needs to be replaced.

try this first. drain the flea power. remove batter and ac adapter. press and hold on the power button for 10 seconds. plug back ac adapter and battery. go online to http:support.dell.com then download the latest bios update.

once you reach the dell support site select on support for home users. then drivers and downloads. enter the service tag.

when the list of drivers and updates are listed make sure you selected the correct operating system. look for the BIOS then download it via browser. (do not download the manager)

after the download run or install the update.

If all fails. try a diff ac adapter if same problem message appears then replace the motherboard. else replace ac adapter.

My suggestion is to take it in for service. Might be a loose connection to the board in side of it.

first thing to do is run psa test. turn off laptop. remove batt use ac adapter alone. press and hold on Fn key then press power button once. complete the quick test check if you will be getting error codes like 0142 , 0146 this is hard drive replacement.

myabe the battery is faulty have you tried replacing it?

Take the battery out and try with AC only, if no change, then you will likely need a motherboard replacement

suspected faulty battery. replace the battery.

You mentioned trying a different battery, try a different AC adapter.

When plugging in the ac adapter to the wall, see if the POWER LED comes on on the adapter, then when you connect it to the computer, see if the LED stays on.

If the issue occurs with both AC adapters (No battery installed) then the motherboard has failed. If one ac adapter works but the other doesn't then the adapter is bad
