goto the control panel - power options and see what you have set there for sleep mode, under the powerplan - often it can be set on a couple of mins when using battery
change the setting to longer
Power off the laptop, remove the ac adapter, and remove the main laptop battery. Push the power button in for approx 15 seconds. This will bleed all power from the capacitors. Now, replace the battery and attach the ac adapter. Power the computer up. When it boots, go to the control panel > Power Options > On the top of the window you will see the hibernate tab, click on it and un-check the hibernate box. Hibernation will and can destroy parts of the registry. Sleep mode is fine for most laptops....hibernation is not.
right click on open area on the desk top. Go to properties - screen saver - power monitor - go to the hibernate tab - uncheck enable hibernation - click apply then ok.
