I have a Fossil Limited Ed. Mr. Spock watch with a starship that circles the dial as a second hand. I cannot figure out how to get the back off the watch to change the battery. There are no slots, screws or any such things. There's a 1997 TM on the back and a number under the limited edition number that reads L1-1603. I just want some instructions on how to get the back off the watch.

  • valoriemit Mar 13, 2011

I've actually been trying to get it off with a small screwdriver, but it won't come off because there is absolutely no space between the back and the watch itself.

I have been wondering if it might screw on, but there is nothing to grab onto to try unscrewing it. I changed the battery once about 10 years ago and then bought another watch and hadn't worn this one for a while.

Thanks for the suggestion, though, I will try it again when my patience has been restored.

It can probably be removed by using a small screwdriver between the back and the body and twisting while applying pressure.

Be careful to avoid stabbing yourself when the screwdriver slips (as it will) - used strong gloves!

A word of warning, one of the cries I see on this site is "how do I get the back on again".

The best option is to take the watch to a jewelers to replace the battery for you - doing it yourself can be more trouble than it is worth, especially if seals are involved.

I have model fs-2919 would like to know what the other dials are for i dont have the booklet thanks for your help

The three small dials on this watch are all part of a "stopwatch" system. The small dial at the 12 o'clock is for tenths of a second( each half circle completed is one second or 1 whole rotation equals 2 seconds.) the small dial at the 6 o'clock counts a full 60 seconds for each revolution, and the dial at the 9 o'clock counts minutes(one full circle equaling an hour.) when the stop watch is started the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock dials will start at the same time. you will notice that every half turn on the top dial equals one "tick" on the bottom dial. After the first minute of timing the top dial will stop ticking as it is for more precise timing of things that take less than 1 minute. each full rotation of the bottom dial will then equate to one "tick" of the 9 o'clock dial. hence the three dials counting tenths of a second, seconds and minutes. the setting of these dials is fairly easy once you understand the purpose. on the side of the watch there are two buttons(one top and one bottom) with a setting wheel in the center. When in use the top button starts and stops the stopwatch and the bottom button resets the counters. To set the watch simply pull the center wheel away from the watch all the way(2 clicks) set your minute hand and hour hand and then tap the bottom button repeatedly until the small dials all line up straight up. once that is done push the center wheel button halfway into the watch or one click to set the date. then simply push the wheel the rest of the way in and voila!!! hope this answers some questions

I have a sport watch fossil CH2470. the second hand is not moving, stuck on 12, but everything else works. how do i fix this?

Your watch is Chronograph watch and the big centre seconds hand is for chronograph function only - not day to day seconds counting. Check the small dials and you will see that the small seconds hand is already counting seconds- this small one is seconds counter. To engage chrono hand push the upper push button once. To stop it - push the same button again. to return to zero- push lower button. Just bought a Fossil FS4446 sports chrono but it looks like the hour on the chrono is stuck just after 19 on the small dial on the right i just want to check that this is indeed the hour dial. and if it...

The small dial on the right is 24 hour counter and it does one full circle in 24 hours. The purpose of this counter is to tell the wearer what part of day or night is exactly (p.m. or a.m.). There are some places on our planet where the night/day lasts for months and it would be difficult to realise it's morning or evening without 24 hour counter. Try to advance watch hands forward/backward for few hours and you will see this counter hand moving. If it does not move, your watch has faulty/broken wheel and needs to be sent back for replacement/repairs.

Not sure what parts should be moving on new Fossil Me1020 watch.

I have a Fossil Twist ME1011, basically the same idea behind the one you have. What happens is there is a weighted third-circle that is in the back of the watch behind the battery (you can't see it) that spins a spring (the spring is the bottom seethrough part that ISN"T moving!) the spring then moved the UPPER seethrough part, which in turn spins the second hand!

IF the second hand stops working, carefully take the back off the watch and you'll see the weighted third-circle that I was talking about. It should spin, and in the middle there is a tiny flat head screw. The screw can get loose, so gently tighten it and the second hand should work again!

Is there a easier way to change the month dial on a fossil

When you pull out crown, there is two positions (clicks), not just one. First click is for day/date quick setting. Second click is for hand setting. Pull the crown out slowly and carefully and you will soon find out both positions.

Fossil ch 2470 watch. I have no idea what the extra little dials are for on the face and how to set them. Please help

The dials are part of a Chronograph (stop watch) I assume there is a second, minute, and maybe a date function. Usually the large second hand is part of the stop watch on only moves when you start the stopwatch (top right button) push again to stop and reset back too zero is the bottom button. Usually to set or zero out those dials pull out the crown to the first click (also sets date) then push the top button to set the seconds (big hand) and the bottom button to set the other. sometimes you may need to pull the crown out to the second click (also sets hour and minutes) to set add'l dials. This is generally how you set most chronograph watches the button you push and what moves may be different.

Second hand not working

The second hand is the little dial at the bottom. The one in the main part of the watch is for the stopwatch portion of the watch. It is a little screwy

Set?

Press Both side buttons at the same time. This should reset the hours and minute mini-circles. Then use the top button to "start" the second hand moving again. press it again to stop the second hand. I'm unaware as to how to restart the bottom seconds circle.
