My Vtech has three units, a main phone and three additional sets. Should I replace all the batteries in all three, and where do I find an approved vendor?

If the batteries are Dollar Store or old, buy a new set of Duracell. There are a lot of counterfeits coming out of the far east. Amazon Basics are pretty good and they are always fresh.

batteries last up to 3 years and from e-bay are a fraction of that price
as for time in use should be at least 1 hour for a good battery
it is vital that after use you return the phone to the charge cradle
ensure that charger is operational

It is highly likely that your battery pack needs replacing. If you have had it for more than a year and use it often then it is quite possible. You can buy a new one at radio shack online or search for one similar on ebay. Price is about 10 pounds though.



If you have more than one of these phones it may be worth while buying more than one as it will save you postage and might get you a discount.

My Vtech 6.0 charging light only turns off when I remove a handset from the charger base. I have had these three set for two years and they work fine. I think that the red light is just to let you know that the charger is working, if you loose power, or unplug one of the base units there is no indication of a dead battery.

Instructions for registering additional new handsets on VTech Model DS6151: Place additional handset on main base. Press HOLD on main base and # on handset. Asks you to de-register. Press no. Registration of additional handset takes place.

Unplug main unit and the other unit which is not working then plug back on after few minutes. If its still the same then change battery on hand set. baattery life is only four years

If the other three handsets work ok then you have a defective handset.

Initially, might I suggest a reset, remove power from the mains (unplug) and remove any and all batteries. This would simulate a reset. In some versions, there is a reset button inside a pinhole just for this purpose. Of course, doing so would revert the unit back to factory defaults and all user settings, configurations, memory would be erased.

Another strong possibility is diry, corroded battery terminals or its just that the battery is nearing end of life.

Worst case scenario is a component failure which then would require the services of a qualified technician.
