Drive belt for turntable has broken, can I buy a new one and are there instructions on how to install it? Judy Petre.

Question edited to remove email address.33 million people have seen it, so fingers crossed.

Yes you can. But there are quite a few drive belt turntables made since the 1950s!

They are all very easy to replace.

Change belt on rotel 310 turntable

To replace a drive belt.
Before starting unplug from mains power source.
1, Remove the rubber platter mat to expose the platter.
2. Put your thumb and forefinger through the two round holes and lift the platter off. You may need to give the centre spindle a light tap (whilst applying upward pressure) with a screwdriver handle or some similar tool that will not leave any marks or damage.
3. Remove the old belt and wipe the platter pulley and motor pulley with an alcohol swab to remove any old belt residue.
4. Place the new belt around the platter pulley making sure t is sitting flat without any twists.
5. Flip platter over the right way up. There are1or 2 larger rectangle shaped cut outs in the platter.
6. Through the cut out pinch up the belt and slip a finger or belt hook between the platter pulley and the belt gripping the belt ready to fit over the motor pulley.
7. Align the centre hole of the platter with the spindle and place platter back into position keeping a grip on the belt.
8. Slip belt over motor pulley and give the platter a light clockwise rotation to ensure the belt is riding correctly.
9. Replace the rubber mat and then run the turntable to ensure correct operation.

Job done.

Pioneer turntable is powering up but not not spinning?

Turntable Drive Belt

The chances are the rubber drive belt has either broken or stretched so that it has fallen off the drive pulleys.

You will need to gain access to the underside of the turntable to replace it.

With most turntables the process will be to secure the tone arm (a rubber band will do the trick) before turning the whole thing upside down and unscrewing the base.

Replacement drive belts are easily available on the internet. Search by make and model number of your turntable

Rotel rp1000 turntable rplaying too slow, new belt

HELLO

Check that your new belt is not too tight as this will slow the motor down as it tries to turn the platter. I would also suggest a little light oil (sewing machine oil is ideal - NOT WD40) on the motor spindle shaft where it goes through the motor itself it may be a little dry.

Clean off any gunk from the rim where the belt turns the platter and do the same on the pulley on the motor. Get some de-oxit (expensive but good) or SERVISOL to clean the speed change switch too.

ALL THE BEST!

How do I change the belt on a rotel RP830 turntable. I can't see how to remove the turntable to install the new belt

There's a free downloadable manual at retrevo.com after you register.

It shows how to do it, sort of. I imagine the platter should just lift off which should expose the pulley and the driven part of the turntable. Make special note of which groove (top one) you route the new belt on for 33-1/3 rpm.

They don't mention it but you need to avoid touching the belt surface with your bare hands. Use cotton gloves.

Broken stylus arm is it still possible to get another one and is it possible to fit it myself also new stylus needed as well

The stylus should not be a problem. Without knowing the make and model of the turntable, however, there is no way to respond about hte arm. You have listed this question under the Rotel receiver category, can you pelase supply the ,ake and model of the turntable? Also, supply any numbers that appear on the current stylus so I can verify that either the exact one or a similar substitute is available.

Thanks,
Dan

Removing platter - It is stuck on the spindle due

It's a tight fit - I put my thumb on the spindle and pulled on each side of the platter - you could try a little machine oil on the spindle but don't keep it there.
