Symbaluv, I've found that WinAVI version 7.7 or 8.0 produces xvid files that play perfectly on this unit.

Not exactly sure why, because most downloaded xvids also play fine. I need to find the optimum combination with regards to picture quality as WinAVI doesn't offer much depth.

Also in the case of converting MP4 (from Youtube for example) Pazera Free Mp4 to AVI works a treat. Plays perfectly on the Telefunken.

Can't play avi videos usb

Hello to all. Have twin boys staying over the holidays and they wished to view movies when they went to bed. have Polaroid 32" P32LED12 fitted to their bedroom. The tv is ok for playing dvd through it but when on using the usb drive with movies on it, it came up Invalid or Unsupported file. Have tried different movies with different formats and came up with nothing to play. So got myseld a video converter program: Wondershare video converter ultimate. On looking at the booklet from Polaroid, it says MPEG1.2, but although on converting the film to this format, the film broke up. So I took an AVI trailer and converted the trailer to all the formats on the converter and stuck this on the USB and stuck it into the tv. Out of all of them, i found that the converter format was VOB DVD FORMAT in this coverter. The film did not break up and the sound great. The film sizie was a bit smaller in frame size but this can be increased. What the converter showed after the conversion was: DVD-Video/ Format: VOB. Video Codec: MPEG-2/ Audio Codec: MPEG-2 audio. There is a settings on this converter at the lower right corner, but you can fiddle with this yourself. But to finish with, I have tried most of the films with different formats and could not get them to work on this tv, so get yourself a video program converter, put in laptop or pc and convert film to VOB. Hope this helps as there is nothing in any help on google for this tv.

The music format is only support MP3, WMA, MP4, and the video you can use FLV or AVI, I think you need to convert your youtube music video to AVI format, maybe you can try to use Leawo Video Converter.

Can the telefunken dvd player play movies from a external hardrive?

An external hard drive has to be installed into a system like a PC before it can be used as a storage device. however if the external hard disk is a memory storage type with a usb connectivity which is available on your telefunken DVD , then it might be able to mate with the DVD processor to display the files and play.
You have not mentioned any details of the DVD or the Hard disk.

Telefunken dvd player. brand new. can't get the usb to play. the only instructions explain how to change to usb, not how to use or get it to play. model no. TEL4302 i can't access the folders or menus and...

You don't say what you are trying to connect via USB. The DVD USB ports I've used only support FAT32 format. I get that black/then logo screen if I try to connect a NTFS formatted device.

Buffalo 500gb external hard drive not working on dvd player

Many DVD players cannot play just any video files. You can look online at the website for your DVD manufacturer and see if there is a codec pack for your DVD player. If you install a codec pack on your DVD player then you should be able to watch more video formats. Look for one that can do avi, mpeg, mp4, etc files
please rate my solution!

I just bought an Aveis 1080p upconverting DVD player and when i put my USB device in it doesn't it says unsupported. What kind of USB device should I get

USB stick has to be formated in FAT32 file system.
Some players will only play sticks up to 2 Gigs, some may recognize and play video files even from external hard drives.
Aveis is a no name player, so who knows if it'll play anything besides MP3 and JPG.

I'd go with a Pioneer or Coby (both at Best Buy); both play DivX format from sticks and external hard drives; no MPEG-4 or MKV files though, which is a bummer (did not find any player under $100 that does.)
I tried them both (also tried Philips and Toshiba), but the Pioneer had far the best picture and sound amongst all of them. Coby was OK, but the display broke.

Playing movies from external hard drive

Hi rox09
Well you can rip your DVD to any external drive using and third party DVD ripping software ,once you do that you will get a AVI,MPEG and any common fomats your DVD player supports

Inorder to play those files in your DVD player ,you need the check whether your DVD has a USB input port or else if you laptop or computer has a S-video out put and your TV has S-Video input ;you can play directly from your laptop/computer to the TV using a S-video Cable which is available in any Computer shop.
I hope this helps
