Can I get that diagram too? And do you have a link to the spring you purchased?
Testimonial: "I don't remember the spring I bought, but it was the wrong one for my machine. I talked to a repair guy and he said my machine is a "knockoff" but that I don't really need the spring anyway. I've been using it without the spring since then and I haven't had a problem. I just have to make sure the thread goes through the tension rings correctly."

I have a brand new 525FA. I can try to take a pic of it tomorrow for you. I may have to call my mom to see what part you need a picture of cause I'm not familiar with sewing machine parts at all. But I'll check with her. Or maybe you can take a pick of what you need to see. Then I can look at it, and take a pic of the same thing on mine.
SOURCE: How do I thread the Necchi 3101 sewing machine?
I took the machine to a JoAnn Fabrics store and a very kind saleslady there showed me what I was doing wrong and how to do it correctly.
You should also try www.sewusa.com. I found the manual for a used Necchi 521FB I brought. Hope that helps.
SOURCE: How do I set the tension on my Necchi 3101?
The tension is not changed.
You lower the feed dogs, or change the stitch length to zero and cover the feed dogs by taping an index card (make a hole for the needle) over them.
Be sure to use a darning or free motion foot and have the presser foot down when stitching.
