Yep I did the same. Finally recovered using the link shown below.

http://hotfile.com/dl/113520903/05689ed/VOSTRO1000_CRISDISK.ZIP.html

To Create a Crisis Recovery USB you must use a Win XP system
Note: Running XP through compatibility more in Win 7 will not work
1. Insert Blank USB Drive
2. Open "CRISDISK" folder
3. Open "WINCRIS" application
4. It should detect the USB Drive
5. Click "Start" Button
WINCRIS should create the USB recovery drive
6. For Crisis recover, be sure to Power drain system.
A. Remove Battery
B. Depress power button for 10-15 sec.
7. Insert USB drive into USB port.
8. Hold END button while plugging in power cord in system
9. Continue to hold END and depress and release the system power button.
10. Continue holding END until USB drive begins to flash and a beep is heard.
11. System may remain blank as it enters recovery mode - Anoying Beeping will be heard - Beeping will stop and FANS will function Another series of Beeps will be heard
12. System should complete recovery in 5-10 min. If system has not powered down in 15 min, power down by pressing the power button

Good luck Dean/Steve

Laptop goes blank on startup but still display logon screen

Have you upgraded the OS? At boot start tapping the F-2 key, do not wait for the Dell screen. Take a look at this forum:http://www.computing.net/answers/windows-95/dell-s-bios-startup-screen/85976.html

I updated the bios on the dell vostro 1000 and it wouldn't start. The power light stays on and you can hear the fan. This is followed by a long beep and 2 short beeps while the screen stays black.

Hi alkeith...
Turn on the computer while tapping F8, this will take you into the Safe Mode.
While your in the Safe Mode you can do a system restore.
Restore your computer back to an earlier time when it was working before you installed the bios change.
Left click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.
This should solve your problem.

Dell vostro 1000 laptop hdd password and bios password. how to remove cmos battery. Thanks!

  • Hello misdept, if by chance you didn't 'create a "Supervisor Password" to prevent anyone from changing the configurations in the BIOS / CMOS Setup? than we are 'OK!' Lets just say [No] for now. Bootup / Start the computer, and follow these steps: 1. When you hear the computer start-up, there will be a message that flashes very quickly at the bottom of the screen, it will read; Press F2 or F12 or on other "Computers, the 'Key Sequence may be [F11]..." The area of your attention will be [F2] Key at the top of the keyboard. The F2 Key will open the CMOS / BIOS Setup. paul7of9_15.jpg 2. Once this screen appear, you will see a 'Listing" of different set-ups. There will be instructions in the [right] Help ? area. You be using the "Arrow Keys" to (Select and Choose Items). In the first screen, there will be on the (right of the screen). 3. Set Supervisor Password = This is the "Password Setting that will prevent anyone from getting into without authorization this area that you are in now, to "Change or Configure" CMOS or BIOS setting. 4. Set User Password = This Password is use for "Logins / User Accounts... You want to "Reset or Change the Supervisor Password. Do so, and to finish; remember to use the [F10 Key] to 'Save the Changes.' Thanks for using Fix' Ya, and I hope this fix it, paul7of9

Hello i have dell vostro 500 i forgot the my system bios password pls help to remove the password pls

You can set two passwords

1. Setup password, used to access and change settings
2. System password, used to restrict access to the system

If you have set the first one, which is asked only if you press F2 and try to access setup / BIOS settings, and if you can still go to windows, download the latest firmware for this computer and execute it. This will update the firmware after erasing the old settings, thereby erasing the existing password also. Ensure you do this process when your battery is fully charged and also with the power adaptor connected and on. During the process if the system powers down then this will turn your motherboard faulty and it can only be replaced by Dell.

If you have set the second one, which asks everytime you start your computer and waits in a black screen for a password then you can only get this reset by Dell, if you have warranty call them else using another computer write to them.

Where is the BIOS Password Clear/Reset jumper located in a Dell Vistro 1000?

There is no Jumper on a Dell Vostro 1000 to clear the password. You will have to contact Dell Technical Support, Complete a ownership validation to confirm you are an authorized user of the system, then they can provide you with a Master Password to clear the password

Update Dell Vostro 1000 BIOS now wont turn on, nothing on display

You may be in for some trouble, a failed bios update isn't always an easy fix. if you can find the cmos battery try to remove that for a few seconds. you will also need a disk version of the bios, download that from dell on another computer and copy it to floppy or cd and see if you can boot to that and reinstall the bios.

when you press the power button what happens, does it light up and run the fan? Nothing appears on the screen?
