If this watch is several year old, it could be that the power cell is defective, and won't hold a charge. I have been also told by a Citizen Tech, that they will sometimes "hangup" or lock up, and may just need a quick jolt. This doesn't happen often, but Citizen has the equipment to test and supply this jolt to sort of kick start the movement again. They would also replace the battery while it was open. You can sometimes place it into direct sunlight for 15-30 minutes, but no longer...unless you want to melt the insides...lol.
Most Geniune Citizens have a five year warranty. Keep that mind too. Thanks.
The ECO series of Citizen's do not require battery replacement, as they are solar powered. If the watch stops due to a long period of non-use, there is a procedure in the manual as well as the Citizen website on how to get it running again. You will have to expose it to light for several hours (but not with lots of heat such as a car dash) to get it running. If you continue to have trouble, you may have a problem with the watch. I bought my wife a ladies ECO drive about 8 years ago and bought one for myself about 2 years ago and have not had a bit of problems with either. They are extremely good watches and it is nice not to have to worry about "when will the battery die?"
Energizer 371/370 It uses 3 of them. Careful when opening. Make sure you put the screws back tightly. unit has a gasket. lightly treat with vasline before putting back gasket and screwing cover on.
