Its sounds like the convergence on your TV needs to be adjusted. (this adjusts all of the color guns in the back of the tv to line them up again, when they get off, you start to get yellow blue or red halos around objects in the picture. In the setup menu on your TV under picture or Display there will be an item that says "convergence" follow the instructions in there so all the crosses on the screen no longer have colored halos anymore.

My tv screen when on turns yellow then after a while it will switch back to normal colors what can be wrong with it....

Televisions covered: all Projection with yellow picture, but not Projection TVs with a yellowish tint surrounding objects in a nearly normal picture.

Yellow = red + green
normal picture = red + blue + green (RGB). See illustration.

12_27_2011_5_00_56_am.png

Fig. 1 Additive color mixing in an RGB monitor, or RGB Projection TV.

The circuitry powering your blue output, or the blue light engine itself is starting to fail.

Operating Theory:

The lamp module shines a bright light into the optical unit; there are a series of lens and baffles, and at the top of the light engine, a lens puts the picture into a mirror which is reflected onto the screen; All video and color is processed thru the light engine. Blue most commonly fails first, leaving a yellow picture.

I have a Mitsubishi WS 55908 and is has lost its ability to show the color green. What could be the problem?

Hi jazz836,
You're unit has three color gun inside, the red/blue/green gun, since you haven't a green color, green gun is dead. This is caused by faulty resistor, tube, transistor, bad solder joints. If you have necessary tools and test instrument look first for bad solder joints in the neck board, re-solder all cold/dry joints, unplug then re-insert all cable connected. Test the parts in that board and also the tube.
If you can't do the job yourself I would advice you to look for a technician to isolate the problem.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

My poor mitsubishi 55908 just lost it's picture after working flawlessly for 10 years. The sound is still there, but the screen just went dark. Is this something that is repairable? Thanks!

hi,
This is a high voltage problem, but first try turning up the screen voltage located on the focus block. This requires opening the back of the TV, be careful of dangerous high voltage. See if there's a picture after turning up the red, green, blue, voltage adjustments, if not then vertical sweep, Flyback, or convergence need servicing. This repair shouldn't cost more than $300.00 dollars, maybe less. Contact me at my link below so I can help you further. If this helps please rate :-)
Thanks..
