I have purchased a DVD-VCR combo similar to others we own, and on our newer televisions, we are able to click the TV over to Game in order to view the player. The LXI series is older and we do not have a remote for it. I cannot figure out how to make this work. It has the hookups in the back for the yellow, white and red cords. I thought it would work! Help!! Thanks!
I PURCHASE FROM A TV FROM A SALE AND I CAN'T HOOK UP THE DVD PLAYER AND I DON'T HAVE A REMOTE. THE OPT ARE CABLE AND AIR AND NOTHING WORKS WHEN I SWITCH IT OVER LIKE MY OTHER TV HELP.

DVD/VCR, DVR/SAT, TV/VCR, TV/DVD, DVR/CABLE and DVR/DVD combo codes for GE/Jasco three digit universal remote controls purchased after ... 3 digit codes for GE Universal remotes purchased after August 2002 ... PANASONIC, 437.
However, most remotes are limited to codes for devices released 6 months or more before the remote was programmed. If your TV is newer than your remote, then you may need to get a newer remote.
Unfortunately, the remote you picked up may be incompatible with your current TV. (I found older universal remotes didn't work with my newest set that had a digital tuner. These were remotes that worked with ~20 year old tvs (analog only). Similarly a new remote might not work with an older TV. Then you get stuck with the result you have.)
Your TV has Select, volume and channel change buttons on the front of the TV. So a tedious way to deal with the problem is to move to the TV to change channels. The Volume controls are under the DVD tray. Select (toggle TV/VCR, DVD, and external input) is the first one on the left under the VCR cassette slot. The channel up/down is to the right of the Select.
I wish that I could be of more help.
Cindy Wells (However, you might try the Philips Remote Code Finder: http://www.urc.philips.com/ and
select your country and click on the right arrow. Then find your remote
model and see if you can get a single number for your TV. On the newer remotes I looked at, it only returned a code of 0917 for All Emerson devices.)
Not likely will your current remote ever have the capability for your newer model.
The code sets are designed into the Dish remote as they were available then and don't 'learn' newer sets.
You might try to find one of the other Funai brand code sets under these names:
Funai, Symphonic, Emerson, Aventura, Durabrand,
ESA, Magnavox, INSIGNIA, and Misakai
Even if you do find one that gives you some functions, I doubt you will find one set for both TV and DVD player so you will have to try individual code sets; one for TV, another for DVD.
Hi,
Based on your post/description:
1. the TV is stuck to A/V;
2. you have two video sources - VHS & DVD (assuming both are external and both have A/V outputs with the VCR also with inputs);
3. you want to use either VHS & DVD, one at a time.
You can do it the old fashion way, remove yellow, red, white RCA connectors from DVD and plug them at the outputs of the VHS when you want to use the VCR; or
Connect the A/V outputs of the DVD to the inputs of the VCR, connect the outputs of the VCR to the A/V inputs of the LXI TV.
Hopes this give you an idea. Post back how things are or should you need further information.
Good luck and kind regards.
i have the same exact problem. maybe someone could help?
