I have a Netgear DG834G v4. Wireless connection is fine, ISP is fine and Internet via wireless is perfect. Nothing via the LAn ports seems to work. Both XP and Win 7 machines see Lan as an undefined opuclic (not home) network and will not connect Have upgrades routers firmware - no change Hard reboot of router with all settings re-entered - No change Also changed cables etc Any thoughts? DHCP SERVER in Router and DHCP server in Wireless Conflicting - Set WI Fi DHCP router leases to say 192.168.0.10 to 192.168.0.100 and default gateway as 192.168.0.1 and on the router set the router's ip address to 192.168.0.1 make the Wi Fi router address 192,168.0.2 . Set in the router the DHCP address leases to 192.168.0.101 - 192.168.0.254 and default gateway 192.168.0.1 or deactivate one of the dhcp servers and rely on one dhcp server like the routers and then deactivate the wi fi's dhcp server.

SOURCE: LAN ports not working

make sure that the local area connection in the computer is enabled and that the drivers of the ethernet adapter are working properly.

try to reset the router by pressing the reset button for 30 seconds then if the problem still persist then that means the router should be replaced already.

At work we have a LAN connection, can a Netgear 834g router be used as a wireless access point by plugging the LAN into one of the ports, (using it as a port switch?)

yes you can use as a wireless access point by plugging lan cable in to the yellow coloured port on your netgear not any of ports, have a good day....

Netgear connection

is that wired connection or wireless? if it is wired, checked the cable and the port, make sure that the LAN connection is enabled.

if it is for wireless, checked the wireless settings of the router, enable the wireless card of the wireless computer and, verify the wireless settings of the netgear adapter and from there connect to it.

Cannot access the internet after installing new NetGear router.

you need to change the IP address of the router. Plug just the router into the computer. Open Internet Explorer and go to 192.168.1.1. user: admin password:password. On the main page it allows you to change the LAN IP. Make it 192.168.2.1. Now unplug everything and rewire it correctly. This should fix the issue. Verizon uses 192.168.1.1 for the modem well so does Netgear and this causes the network to not function. So changing the IP of the router should fix this issue and has worked for me many times that I have done that set up.

Wi Fi fine, ISP fine, no internet via LAN connection though.

Make sure your firewall is not blocking your ability to go to websites. I saw this the other day, somehow the users firewall was set to block all internet traffic out of the computer.
