Hi. You can watch dvd in your playstation 2 by opening the cd tray and put the cd/dvd you want to watch. Press browser with your joystick and when the dvd menu pops out just choose play movie.
You should be able to put the DVD in the tray and should automatically recognize it and go into the movie.
What type of media are you trying to watch. PS2's cannot play blu-ray movies.
