Hi i've just had my computer ugraded to windows 7 but i cant play my sims 2 it keeps saying that i need directx 9.0c compatiable graphics adapter for it. but it was playing on my windows xp fine untill i upgraded it i've gotinstalled on my computer at the moment is Standard VGA Graphics Adapter please help driving me mad :(

Have you installed the latest drivers for your video card ? Because in your description you are running with standard VGA drivers from operating sistem. Find your laptop model and visit the manufacturer support site and see if they have driver for Windows 7. If not try to use Windows update from Operating Sistem, from Start menu - Applications - Windows Update.

weve got the same prob.i also try what you did on your pc..but nothing happen but when i put a new graphic card it fix everything..try this..buy a new graphic card,

Graphics adapter its hardware device rather then software. You check whether all driver installed for you video card and DirectX9.0 installed too. It might that you poses old video on board card which doesnt support directX 9

First thing you do is check your system requierments,(should be located on the back of your CD case, or somewhere in your manuel, probebly under the title "System Requirments") it will probebly say something like "complete Direct-X compatible graphics adapter requiered". You then go to Start Menu-->Run (type in "dxdiag" (without quotes)) and see if you have the correct graphics card, and or graphics adapter.

If you do have the correct system requierments repost your problem saying you have the correct system requierments but you still get the following message: "Failed to find any Directx9.0 compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provide by the manufactuer. The application will now terminate."

If you do not have the correct system requierments, you cannot play the game on that computer.

of course we need the specks Taylor- and your graphics card should support directx 9. Unless you have some obscure onboard graphics card or are running win 98 or ur card is really old direct x 9 is supported by cards that were sold even 3-4 years ago.

NOW WHAT YOU CAN TRY IS: If you are on win xp and this funked up message shows up you can try running the gave in compatibility mode for win 2000. right click on the game file go to compatibility tab choose win 2000 in the dropdown apply and okay it. Try and run it again.

Hi tom2badcat, the SIMS game is very picky when it comes to graphics cards. If you look on the SIMS box you'll find their recomended graphics card list. The video card you bought is a low end 8x AGP card. You can try downloading & installing directx 9.0c from microsoft. Click on this link;
