50/50 split Tower fridge/freezer. The top fridge compartment runs fine, but the freezer compartment is'nt working properly. Only the top two shelves seem to be able to freeze food. The bottom of the freezer is barely able to freeze. The freezer thermostat is set to 6 out of 7 settings and the motor/compressor runs continuously as dictated by the thermostat, but just can't get the temperature down further than -5. So basically, the top of the freezer compartment is freezing but gets warmer nearer the bottom. Whats going on?

SOURCE: my frdge compartment is freezing

Pehaps the damper door motor is burned out or the damper door is just stuck open causing to much air to flow into fridge side. Damper door is located at the very most top-back-left corner of the "fridge" side.... goodluck...

SOURCE: FRIDGE COMPARTMENT FREEZING

try this, make sure you dont have anything blocking your blower in the freezer.if that is okay if you have seperate controls for the freezer and the fridge, try setting the frige setting lower and the freezer higher, this makes the blower work more in the freezer.hope it helps.

SOURCE: F&P E402B Active Smart Fridge Compartment not cool

You need to start with a clean totally defrosted unit. That means clean, vacuum and wipe as much as you can around the entire motor compressor area especially any coils you can reach. Then set temp around whatever normal is and see what happens. If still the same it's time to have a tech do pressure tests.

SOURCE: Both freezer and fridge Not cold on top

sounds like the circulation fans are jammed/seized or faulty -try a full defrost and see what happens after that.

Fridge warm, freezer has frost on back panel & is defrosting, fans work, just changed defrost thermostat, no air is moving from freezer side to fridge side, drain pan under fridge is dry

this fan needs to run when the compressor runs, check fan blade for being jammed by ice if you have this much ice on back wall as ice will stall motor,if no fan there will be no cool air to refrige compartment also the defrost drain tray will fill with water then freeze over which in turn floods the freezer floor and refrige compartments cause it cannot drain to the pan in the bottom

Samsung bottom mount refrigerator RB2055SW/XAC Canada. Symptom: Freezer temperature fluctuates between -5 and -20 degrees centigrade, regardless of temp setting. No ice buildup visible. Fridge is fine,...

The crisper can freeze when air leaks around the base of the duct assembly. To prevent this, the air tower will need to be removed. Disconnect power to the unit first. All the shelves and drawers will need to be removed, to access the tower. With the air tower out, now run a bead of silicone on the floor of the refrigerator where the tower sits. Now replace the duct on top of the sealant to make a tight seal and prevent the air leakage.

Sorry to hear about your problem.

Sounds like you have a defrost issue. Hence your unit is not defrosting. All of this apply's if your freezer side has ice . If not. you have other issues, this does sound funny, but this is why your refrigerator side is warm, or not cooling.

Here is a list of some things that can go wrong.
1. Defective heat coil
2. Defective defrost timer
3. Defective defrost sensor
4. Defective Fan
5. Defective compartment inlet damper (on some models)

You should call a service company to resolve your issue.

Since I tried to help you, Please help me and Rate/Vote on the response. Thanks

Maytag refrigerator side-by-side model MSD2756GE freezer is working fine, but refrigerator is not cooling. can not hear a fan blowing from freezer to refrigeration side.

remove the baskets and shelves in the freezer and remove the rear panels after shutting the fridge down. If you see heavy frost on the coils then the defrost model needs replaced. If not, check the that the fans runs, and then that the thermostat works and then that the damper that allows the air to the fridge compartment is opening correctly.

Fridge doesn't get cold enough

If the evaporator fan is not running. The fan itself could be faulty or the door operated light/fan switch could be faulty.

If the evaporator fan is running. The fridge is not defrosting and ice has built up on the evaporator and the air is not circulating properly into the fridge compartment. The fan circulates cold air into the fridge and back through the fridge control which is normally just an adjustable flap which allows more or less cold into the fridge depending on the setting. If the fridge is not defrosting, the defrost timer could be faulty or heater element could be blown.
