I have an Onn 15'' LCD TV Model No OLCD1504 and am trying to connect a DVD player that only has an AV out.I have tried connecting it with a Scart to Av lead in all combinations i.e. via freeview box,direct to TV with no joy.The TV works perfectly with the free view box on the scart connection.The TV automatically selects scart input when using the Free view but does not seem to recognise the DVD player.There is no AV button on TV remote.The DVD player works fine on another TV.Any ideas please

Usually the tv will switch automatically to the correct reception mode as soon as it detects an input into the scart socket.

I have and have had a number of tv sets and they all do this, though I do remember many years ago needing to select the AV channel. I believe these days the AV channel is for the other audio/video input sockets.

I suggest you connect your dvd player to the tv, switch on the tv and then press "play" on the dvd.
You should be able to enjoy viewing without further effort.

If you change channel on the tv to check what is on, the dvd reception will be lost. To save the trouble of disconnecting the scart lead and reconnecting I use a manual scart distribution box so simply pressing the button provides the required interruption so dvd viewing can be resumed.

Make and model of TV would help.
Very odd TV with no SCART and only a single HDMI. You sure it's not a computer monitor?
If the TV really does not have any sort of analogue input you will either need to buy a disk player with HDMI or an analogue to digital converter (the former may well be cheaper!), And if there is only a single HDMI you can but switches to expand the number of HDMI inputs if necessary.

Refer to page 15 which states:
"Use a included SCART adapter cable to connect
between the TV's SCART input socket and a SCART

Are you using a scart lead to connect to tv try changing lead as some times scart leads don't have all the pins I prefer to use scart leads that have all the pins in them and make sure they are firmly pushed home also check settings on tv as some tvs allow you to mute av plugs

The DVD player only has a SCART out and unless you have an European model TV it won't have a SCART input. So you have to buy a SCART to RCA cable and connect the RCA end to the TV's AV input ( Yellow to Video and Red/White to audio input )

Firstly, please make sure you have connected the SCART cable correctly. This should be connected to a SCART OUT socket on the DVD player to one of the SCART IN or EXT sockets on the rear of the TV.

If you have correctly connected the SCART cable the TV should automatically switch to the AV channel when you switch the DVD player power on or insert a disc.

Switch your TV on, then switch the DVD player off and then on again. If the TV does not change to the AV channel you may have the SCART cable connected incorrectly.

Not all TVs automatically switch to the AV channel when the AV device is switched on. On some TVs the AV input is on channel 0 or 99. On other TVs the AV input is not assigned to a specific channel. On these TVs you need to look for a button marked "AV", "INPUT" or "SOURCE" - either on the TV remote or on the buttons on the front of the TV. The easiest way to do this is to insert a disk into the DVD player and start it playing. Then press the "AV" "INPUT" or "SOURCE" button (whichever one you have) repeatedly until you find the signal from the DVD player.

Please check your connections and try using the "AV" "INPUT" or "SOURCE" buttons. If you are still unable to watch your DVD player, please post back with the following information:

1. Model number of the Bush TV
2. Brand and model number of the DVD player
3. If you are using any remote other than the ones supplied with the TV or DVD player, the brand and model number of the remote.

I will then be able to tell you exactly how it should be connected and which buttons (if any) you need to press to access the AV channel.

Hi Martin,

A wiring Schematic is not that you should be looking. What you need is large feeders to understand hot to connect to various ports to give your desired output.

1. Yellow wire is picture and the 2 red is sound

at the dvd player plug in the picture wire by av out, at the tv plug the yellow wire in av in.
The sound is the same sound out at the dvd player look for a L R this means left and right at the tv there should under av in next to the picture wire you pluge the soun in

You have not mentioned the t.v/ dvd model, normaly all latest t.v will have A.V. input , try to connect in a.v. out of d.v.d to a.v. input to t.v and bring t.v. into a.v. mode.

Scart is not always two-way, if that is the way you have hooked it up. A lot of newer appliances have one-way scart connectors, and the vid/av plugs are also wired in one direction.
Are you trying to record from the bult-in tuner to the video? Then you would also have to wire from the av-out of the TV to the video in on the video/dvd... essentially doubling up on the cables.

Modern day freeview boxes rarely have A modulator in them so you can not tune it to a channel on your tv it must be connected using scart lead.
Most freeview boxes have 2 scart sockets one for VCR & one for TV plug your scart leads in to the scart sockets of freeview they will be labled TV & VCR.
The scart labled TV goes to scart socket on the TV labled AV1 or 1
The scart labled VCR goes to scart socket on VCR labled AV or IN
Now the aerial leads From wall socket to ANT in on freeview.
Then from RF out on freeview to ANT in on VCR.
Then RF out on VCR to ANT in on TV doing this will enable you to put TV on 9 to watch tapes.

The final scart will be from DVD to TV socket marked AV2

You will need to put TV on AV channel to view freeview.
To record freeview you must put VCR to EITHER line.av,aux. it will be one of those different manufacturers call them by varying names.
I have done this banking on your tv having 2 scart sockets if it only has 1 let me know & I will tell you how to wire it differently.
Please state make & model of TV set & VCR & what connections are available EG scart, Phono, Svhs etc.
