Our GE ZDI15 ice maker makes a noise. It is in the den and very distracting. We have cleaned the fins in the condenser area. It was very clogged. We are now going to get some cleaner and run through the clean cycle. Is there anything else we can do.

Ice maker want work if freezer bus not around 0F. Are fans running? Is condenser coils clean? Is there any frost build up on inside back freezer wall?

Many ice maker sporadically turn to keep ice from freezing together and becoming a solid block of ice. This would occur even if the ice maker is turned off in order to keep the ice already made from freezing. It is generally short and not that loud. I'm surprised you find it disturbing.

I had this happen with my fridge when the door was open for awhile when I was cleaning the inside. I did what you did, clean everything behind it. Pay particular attention to the circuit boards, there may be reset buttons in that area. Then unplug the freezer for 10 minutes (make sure it's for a FULL 10 minutes) then plug it back in and try it.

If you remove the ice bin, turn it around where you can see the back, you should see a circular area in the middle with two fins. Now look in the freezer and you'll see the auger motor arms, basically some metal protruding that turn this circular area. More than likely the area on the bin has either broken or come out of place

system. If there is a temperature or ice maker

problem, you'll be alerted by a flashing

SERVICE indicator light. This same SERVICE

light will also flash if the condenser needs

cleaning. Before calling for service, please

check and see if your condenser area needs

cleaning. Refer to Condenser Cleaning,
page 22.

CONDENSER CLEANING

In all Built-In models, the condenser is located

behind the grille. First, remove the grille. Then

using a soft bristle brush, vacuum to remove

dust and lint from the condenser. NOTE: To

avoid bending the condenser fins, be sure to

vacuum in the direction of the fins (up and

down). Clean the condenser area every three

to six months.

CAUTION

Before cleaning the unit, shut the electricity

off at the control panel. When you

clean the condenser, wear gloves to avoid

injury from the sharp condenser fins.

Failure to clean the condenser could

result in temperature loss or mechanical
failure or damage.

Water leak and noise are due to wrong temp setting or malfunction of defrost cycking.Keep temp setting between 3 and 5 degree centigrade. Due to over frosting, the freezer fan fan hits over the ice and working to cool fridge compartment.And also check defrost timer, and heaterworking properly to defrost in time. And if your ice maker is making sound, due to:

• You will hear a buzzing sound when the water valve opens to fill the water reservoir for each cycle.
• Rattling noises may come from the flow of the refrigerant or water line. Items stored on top of the ice maker can also make noises.
• The high-efficiency compressor may make a pulsating or high-pitched sound.
• Water running over the evaporator plate may make a splashing sound.
• Water running from the evaporator plate to the water reservoir may make a splashing sound.
• As each cycle ends, you may hear a gurgling sound due to the refrigerant flowing in your ice maker.
• You may hear air being forced over the condenser by the condenser fan.
• During the harvest cycle, you may hear a "thud" when the ice sheet slides from the evaporator onto the cutter grid.
• When you first start the ice maker, you may hear water running continuously. The ice maker is programmed to run a rinse cycle before it begins to make ice.

First thing is to check see if the condenser is blocked up with dust and gunge, Have a look usually at the back or sometime underneath, and clean out all muck from the fins allowing the hear to dissipate better.

no. That screw adjusts how long the water valve stays open, thus how big the cubes are. Some icemakers only make 4-6 batches a day, depending on how well the freezer is working and holw fast it recovers. The internal thermostat of the icemaker has to reach approximately 14 degrees before it will begin dump cycle. Clean the condenser,(the fins or coils outside the refrigerator) by vacuuming or blowing out and see if that improves ice maker production
