I bought a hunter humidfier about 2 years ago and now i am using it for the first time. I took all the plastic off around it and opened up the top to make sure the filters and everything is in place. I filled up the water tank and put it into the position. I placed the humidfier on a level spot. Plugged it in and then turned it onto the max setting and all it does it push out cold air. No moisture or anything. i have lifted up the tank and put it back down to see if that was the problem but it doesnt do anything. I dont have my receipt anymore either. thanks!

Hunter carefree humidifiers use a reusable and washable wick this method of humidifying does not produce a fine mist like many centrifugal (cool misting)humidifiers. The fact that it is producing cold air seems to indicate it is working. However it would not hurt to check the water intake for blockages it also a good idea to run these models on high for several mins when starting this ensures that water is being pumped up.

Chances are it is just condensation not leakage if it's only wet when its running. Nothing you can do except put a towel under it.

If it smells like plastic burning. Stop using it immediately. As there could be an electrical short or overheating of the unit. If doesn't smell like plastic burning, you'll need to be more descriptive of what the odor smells like.

The humidstat controler has failed. By cleaning the humidfier you introduced moisture into the system. Dry the humidstat controler with a hair dryer and try the humifier again. If the unit still does not shut off at maxium setting. Replace the humidfier controler.

I took the main white part off and laid it side ways on a table looking inside there is a tube that goes from the top towards the main fan then connects to a plastic part that is shaped like a "p" In the middle part of the "p" you an see I tiny little gear.
