I just bought my new macbook air today, and suddenly after playing with the text to speech to iTunes- the sound stopped altogether, i get nothing. I just bought this a few hours ago! what do I do?

Open System Preferences, and click on the Sound icon. Under the Output tab, make sure "Internal Speakers" is highlighted, and the "Output volume" slider is not all the way to the left.
If that is the case, take it to the Apple Store and have a technician look at it. Since you only got it a few hours ago, they'll fix any issues free of charge. (It's under warranty for a year)

I have a Macbook that i can't get the volume on the scale to move up or down.(No volume) The head phones works

Current models of MacBook have dual-phase audio out jacks that work both with electrical and optical equipment. If a headphone plug or other foreign object is inserted into the jack too firmly, or is slightly oversized, it can permanently bend the components that detect which kind of plug is inserted, or if there is no plug inserted.
There are four steps the owner can take before taking the machine in for service:
Make sure all software updates have been applied.
Check in System Preferences: Sound: Output that sound output is set to "Internal Speakers".
Use the F12 volume key to set the sound to maximum.
Reset PRAM by shutting down the MacBook, then pushing the power button to boot it and immediately holding down the four-key combination command-option-P-R until the boot chime is heard three times.
If this does not correct your problem, your logic board may need repositioning or replacement.

Re Sony VAIO F12 (new unit): Audio is barely audible using onboard and external speakers, even though volume bar indicates volume is at highest level. Any way to increase audio volume? Thanks.

1. Yes, check to see if you have the volume up for the wave file turned up that is on the program you are using to listen to the Mp3 or sound wave with.
2. check the speaker connector/ Use another speaker that is know to be good and test. Use a set of earphone in the output jack also to test the output.
If these things are doing the same then you have failing sound card and it needs replacement.

Sound problem in my laptop

Hello,

Do you have the speaker icon on the lower right? If so, check to see if sound is "muted" (turned off) . If the sound is turned-on it will have two sound waves on the right of the icon. If muted it will have a circle with a slash added to the icon. If muted click on the icon then click the speaker in the new window. Check the sound by changing the volume - it will beep when you change the volume.

If the above did not fix the problem you need to download and reinstall the sound card driver.

Goodluck!

Volume Problem on Apple Laptop

Sounds like the volume is muted. Right click on the speaker icon and it should allow you to un-mute it. If that does not work, you need to download or reinstall your sound drivers. If you do not have the cd you can get the sound drivers from the apple website.

I hope this helps. Please rate.
