Blue focus when I try to run the "perfect focus", the blue will not focus. I had the set repaired a year ago, when the Power supplies blew. I got the set back with a 4" red line in the middle of the set, that was blamed on a bad red projector. now for the last 2 months I have added the blue focus problem. I liked the set, but only about 4 years old. Expected more, although it is used as a primary set. 6 to 10 hours daily. got itt new for only 1200. Time to punt? (last repair was shafted to the tune of 600. thanks for any help Rollbuck

Sounds like the place you took it to get servicer turned up the screen control when you had no picture problem that was a no vertical causeing a vertical line. but the service center let it run too long causing the line to burn in the tube. very bad for a repair center to do this. cant believe the got you for 600. thats well overboard. now you got a blue convergance problem because its erroring out durrent the blue reading in the test. what you need is to take off the screen turn on the tv. look in each tube for that line. now you can tell what tube needs replaced. then check convergance ic's they are big black ic's that stand up and mounted on a heat sync for cracked solder. might want to go ahead and solder them anyways in case you cant see or dont know what your lookin at. also check all the resisters in that area for burns. if that does not fix your problem, try replacing the ic's using mcm electronics. they are on the web. and the part number from the front of the ics.

My Model TV # is 51swx20B. Two days ago the picture started having a lot of green in it and no blue. What is the repair needed.

Do adjustments on focus block. Will have to open front panel access door, focus block blue will be on left, green will be on top. Top screen bottom focus. Turn clockwise to increase, counter clockwise to decrease brightness. Turn the color all the way down on menu where it's pure black and white and make adjustments for perfect black and white picture, then when you adjust color, it will be perfect.

AKAI PT5598HD - I HAVE REPLACED THE CONVERGENCE BOARD AND PICTURE AND SOUND ARE "ON" BUT "PERFECT FOCUS" WILL NOT BRING BLUE INTO FOCUS. "PF" STOPS AT 37% - RED AND GREEN PATTERS ARE SHARP BUT BLUE IS...

Most of these sets have a SCREEN/FOCUS block---usually all black with 6 controls----you need to look close at it as one row of 3 will be screen controls---don't touch those----the other 3 will be FOCUS- MARKED in little letters will be r,g,b(red, green blue). TWO ways to adjust the focus: 1. carefully locate the blue focus control and adjust to see if blue will improve in focus. 2. each of the 3 large lens where the picture comes out have a wing nut and a slot--you can loosen the nut and turn the lens---usually best focus that way is if the part that turns is in the middle of the available area to move it.

I should point out that all projection sets intentionally de focus the blue--the lines if blue should be clear but never as perfect as green or red--this is normal.

Green & Blue Ghosting Convergance problem

Odds are real good that the cooling fluid in the green and blue picture tube assemblies has become contaminated. You can tell by looking down into the lenses with a flash light. Funny thing is the red never gets contaminated because whatever organism is causing the problem can't survive in red light. BTW this may still not solve all of your convergence problems but when the colors are so badly diffused the convergence sensors for flash focus can't lock onto the beam landing.

Colors off

Set all convergence controls to center and then manually set all tubes to as close as possible to coincide with each other. Then, use those electronic potentiometers to fine tune the picture.

SINCE YOU HAVE REPLACED THE CIRCUIT BOARD,THE NEXT STEP WOULD BE CHECKING VOLTAGES GOING TO THE CONV. BOARD COMING FROM THE POWER SUPPLY CIR. BOARD.....IF NO VOLTAGE METER,,SOMETIMES, THERE ARE FUSES ON THE POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT BOARD THAT SUPPLY THE NEEDED VOLTAGES FOR THE NEW BOARD YOU JUST REPALCED...UNPLUG THE SET,,CHECK FOR A BLOWN FUSE----I THINK THERE IS 2 OF THEM--ONE FOR A NEGATIVE VOLTAGE AND ONE FOR A POSTIVE VOLTAGE FOR THE CONVERGENCE BOARD..GOOD LUCK--SORRY, MIGHT NEED A TECH...TUNICA

Blue blurry on perfect focus

Did you try the manual lense focus in the back? There is a wing nut on it and it's pretty easy to change. You just need someone to look at the TV and tell you when it looks good. Additionally for the Blue tube, it's on the far left. You take off the bottom panel in the back to get to this area. Good Luck.

TV Shuts off, Screen Problems

The problem could be the power supply, the flyback trasformer or simply a bad connection. A repair cost for this TV set could run any where from 75 bucks all the way up to 225 or so, depending on the problem. Good Luck
