Yes. The washing machine contains heating element and a thermostat. It will try to get water from both hot and cold sources and will heat the water to the required temp.

Whirlpool auto load not filling with water to wash, but will go to rinse cycle

There are 2 inlet valves 1 for hot water and 1 for cold. Sounds like your hot water valve is either faulty or the hot water valve to it is off. The machine normally fills with hot water as it doesn't have a heating element to heat the water and fills with the cold water to rinse

Is the indecit wm12x washng amchne a hot or cold water fill?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France @ 13:45 Tues afternoon.

You can easily check by looking at the back where the water pipe or pipes need to be connected. If there is only one inlet then it is a cold fill and the machine will heat the water up itself.
If there are two inlets the hot is normally marked RED and the cold BLUE.
When the hot water is not hot enough for the particular wash, the machine will heat it in the same way as it would heat just cold water. If, however, the hot water is too hot, it will mix in some cold!

Hi. I've just been loaned a Whirlpool awm 5125/4 washing machine (while mines gone for repair), but it has on the back of the machine, a hot inlet and a cold inlet. My machine only requires a cold water...

Hi,

Your machine can be connected for cold fill only but, you will need to connect a "Y-Piece" for it to work:
belectric_29.jpg
The tail of the "Y" attaches to the cold water valve on your pipework. You then attach both hot and cold water hoses to the branches of the "Y" and connect both hot and cold water hoses to your washing machine. The wash cycles will take longer when connected this way as the machine has to heat the water internally. It will also be less energy effecient.

Please post back if you need further assistance.

Cold water fill does it heat to temputure requied?

Hi,

If your washing machine has inlets for both hot and cold water, you should connect both if possible. If you can only connect cold water, the washing machine will still work and heat to the required temperature, but it will need to heat the water in the machine, so the wash cycles will take longer and it will use more energy.

If connecting a hot and cold fill washing machine with cold water only, you will need to connect a Y-Piece for it to work:

I have a whirpool washing machichine the creaion model. I was wondering if needs a hot water supply or is it ok to use a y shaped hose.

If you have a hot water supply then use it otherwise use a Y hose to connect the cold supply to both hot and cold inlets. Machines are generally made with cold only inlets today as most washing detergents are formulated for cooler washing temperatures and the mfrs say that it is more convenient and cheaper to heat what is required rather than draining your domestic hot water tank. There will not be a problem with using cold fill to both inlets but you can expect some of the hotter was programmes to take longer than expected as the water will have to be heated in the machine to allow the programme to run correctly.

Only hot water pipe going in

Don't know that particular make, but if there's only one water inlet available the machine should use its own electric heater. A "Wash Temp" setting switch should be available.

Not able to do hot washing

My LG Toploader (wft753a) has a cold and a hot inlet, and the mechanism inside the machine simply turns the flow from each tap on and off. There is no internal heating element in it.
