We had some sort of electric power failure last night lasting only a few seconds, but now none of the control buttons on the gas range function. In the time window 5a6 shows. No way to use the oven.

The fact that the display is 'ON' confirms you have power.

The displayed info probably is a 'code' for a fault/problem, but you did not provide a brand nor a model. Even if you had, odds are I do not have access to the list of codes & their meanings.

Try unplugging the plug from the wall receptacle. If you cannot reach the power cord next option would be locate the circuit breaker (single pole) which HOPEFULLY is labeled. Either way, try removing / turning OFF power for at least 10-20 seconds! The control's microprocessor may be locked up due to a very short power interruption.

If that does not reset it, I would call service or the manufacture. You can TRY requesting help over the phone FIRST! Good LUCK

How to clear or reset SA6 code on digital display? none of the button function works.

SAB (which is probably the display message) means that the range is in Sabbath mode. The unit believes that you want the range to maintain whatever the previous settings were for the next 24-36 hours. (This is useful for those who do no work on the Sabbath but wish to keep a dish hot in a low oven for the period.)

Providing the model number would be more helpful than the serial number. The manual for the range will explain how to toggle on and off the Sabbath mode. Since you don't give your range's manufacturer and model number, I can't be sure how to disable the mode. However, on some models, press and hold the Timed oven "Cook Time" and "Delay start" buttons. For some Maytag ovens, just press and hold the Clock key.

Your range is probably in the Sabbath mode. The error code shown on the display is"Sab", not "5ab".

To disable the Sabbath mode push and hold the Clock pad for 3 seconds.

The beeping sound is a warning because the oven is in lock condition. The oven is not faulty, and the code is not 5AB, but SAB.

SAB means that the oven is in Sabbath mode, and the control board will be locked for 72 hours with SAB on display.

If power is disconnected a new 72 hours cycle will start.

Push and hold the Clock button for about 10 seconds, that will reset SAB mode.

If that does not work leave the oven connected and off for 72 hours. If the oven does not unlock after three days, then the electronic control may be stuck in SAB mode because it is faulty, in that case contact the manufacturer at the number listed on the owners manual.

If you are receiving the SAb code your range is in the sabbath mode. I don't know what this means but it is really easy to fix. Press and hold the clock button for 5 seconds. The code will flash, let go and it is reset.

same exact thing happened to me! Its not reading *5Ab* it's reading "Sab" as in Sab MODE...PRESS AND HOLD THE CLOCK BUTTON FOR A TOTAL OF 4 LONG SECONDS!! AND WAAAM!! Your stove is fixed and back to normal..with the Time! lol

This is the Sabbath feature on my Kenmore Elite Electric Slide in Range. My oven manual says to press both the (timed oven) "cook time" button and the "delay start" button at the same time for approx. 3 seconds and this should shut down the feature. I had the same problem, tried the above and it worked.

5A6 or SA6 or SAB is not a error code and is displayed when the unit is set up to Sabbath mode. To reset this error code you can press and hould the CLOCK pad which is located below the display for around 15 seconds. If the problem returns then it is recommended to leave the unit unplugged for 72 hrs so that the problem is solved. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

I solved by press and hold both the (Bake time) and (Start time) pads for at least 3 seconds.
This works for my model PLGS389ECJ.
