If you are trying to play a DVD in the Wii thats the problem Wii doesn't play DVDs its not set up to that one of its many flaws. If you installed the Hack to make it play DVDs then again there is your flaw. If its a game you are playing and its blk/wht and all your wires are connected right you have a bad Wii.
You will need to install drivers in order to play movies. At this point playing games and movies from an external hard drive are a better solution for you.....anyone really.
