We changed water filter but the light indicating that the filter needs changed won't go off, how do I get the light to turn off?
Press and hold the lock and light buttons (lock and water on newer fridges) on the dispenser for about 4 seconds, until the indicator light blinks
Yea thanks it worked Yea!!!!!!
I have some slight OCD so with hat being said this red light staying on after replacing the filter is making me crazy. 1st time giving me trouble after a few filter changes. I pulled the fridge out unplugged and replugged it in a few times and nothing. Cleaned up back there so I felt somewhat accomplished but still the red light is haunting me... So I turn to google. 1st couple forum say hold the button down blah blah blah. Tried that a million times.
This forum was my lifesaver! I was victorious! I did what the guy up there said... Hold the lock button at the same time as, not the light button, but the reset button and it worked. Light and lock didn't work for my GE fridge but Lock and Filter Reset did. I can now with my OCD issues have a good day thanks to Lock and Reset LoL.
Thank you!!

Some people are not aware that after you change your refrigerator water filter, there are two more steps that should be taken to complete the water filter change process.
Step 1:
Reset your water filter indicator light - Most new refrigerators come equiped with an indicator light that notifies you when it is time to change your water filter. This light does not automatically reset when you change your water filter. Here is a list of refrigerator manufacturers and how to reset the indicator light.
GE General Electric Refrigerators - Press and Hold the Reset Button for around 8 Seconds.
Step 2:
Flush a couple of gallons of water through your new filter. Since most refrigerator water filters are made of carbon, some carbon residue is present in the first gallon or two of water. This will leave a bitter taste and residue in your water. If you continue to have these problems after flushing a couple of gallons through the filter, it is possible that you have a defective water filter.
Hi
Find the indication light, located at the top of the Whirlpool
refrigerator just inside the door. This tells you when to change your water
filter. A green light indicates the filter is good and a red light indicates
you need to change the filter.
Find the filter knob. It is usually located at the base of the
refrigerator in the kick plate or grill.
Turn the knob a quarter turn to the left to unlock the filter.
Pull out and remove the old filter.
Add a new filter and push in. Turn the filter a quarter turn to
the right to secure it in place.
Reset your filter indication light inside the refrigerator. Press
down and release the switch five times within 10 seconds. The filter indication
light should then turn green.

Same thing. Just put in the first filter. Press and hold the reset gutton until it chirps, but the light doesn't go out. The fridge is a GE Profile.
I have the same problem with the Jenn Air
