My Sony DVD player will not play or recognize second movie on double feature DVD

Bad disc or older player that does not recognize the higher-capacity/dual layer DVDs if that is what the movies are burned onto, most likely.

I put pictures on dvd-r disc but they won't play on my dvd player. it does play on my computer.

Just copying the pictures onto a blank DVD won't work if you're trying to make a disc that will play in your DVD player. It's not formatted correctly for the DVD player to recognize it and play it back. All you've done is create a data disc, which works with the computer only.

To make a DVD that will act like a "normal" disc you will need "authoring software". A good free DVD authoring program is DVDStyler. Among other things, it lets you make slideshow DVDs, which is what I gather you're after.

DVD authoring can be time-consuming and somewhat confusing, but you only need to it once for the disc. This page has information about the authoring process, different authoring applications, types of DVDs and more. There are many other sites and videos as well.

Good luck with your project, and thanks for using Fixya!

My burner is connected to my computer it burns but when we try to play on our dvd player it want work. it plays back on the computer

Hi,

This indicates that your DVD player does not recognize the codec that was imbeded in your DVD movie when you were burning it. There are two things you may try to resolve this issue.

First, download and install K-lite codec pack to complete your codecs for different media formats. There is the BASIC, STANDARD and FULL for 32bit Windows version. Or, if you have a 64bit Windows version, you may download and install the 64bit version codec.

Then, adjust your DVD burner program to burn compatible settings that your DVD player is limited for.

Burn a sample movie for testing. You are welcome to respond/comment for further assistance.

I hope this works for you. Good Luck!

Does not recognize DVDs, computer

Hi there,
I would like to suggest that you attempt to download & install the codecs that your media player requires, before it will play a DVD.
I found this typical when I was using the Vista operating system with Windows Media Player 11.
The codecs can be found as freeware online & a good site for the apt codecs for WMP 11 is @ www.majorgeeks.com once you are on the site, click multimedia on the left of the page, then scroll down to the codecs required.
The K-Lite series of codecs seem to work well with WMP 11 on Vista.
I truly hope that this has resolved your problem, as there is nothing better than watching a fine movie on the old PC.
Failing my advice, you could always 'Rip' the said movie to your media player & view it from your hard drive.
Good luck anyway.
Warmest regards,
Ste

Pioneer dvd r/rw wont play a dvd

If your computer recognizes a disc in the drive and operates normally, Id assume you would need a DVD player or codec to be able to actually watch the DVD. PowerDVD rings a bell.
Have you tired that? I know Windows Media Player by default wont let you watch a movie without first downloading a codec.
