Handwheel doesn't move needle

I just got a Barbie 11301 machine from a garage sale, and the handwheel moves but the needle does not move manually. Is this something that is fixable? Thanks!

Sounds like the connection between the handwheel and the needle as disconnected (needle bar). It appears from the picture that this is a version of a mass-market product geared for kids/very light duty sewing.

If so, you may be able to reconnect this by removing the side-cover or top-cover of the machine (if removable). The problem is going to be re-timing the needle with the hook/bobbin assembly.

If you are unable to reconnect or get the timing correct, a good local machine dealer/repair tech should be able to take care of it for you. Unfortunately, the cost of having a technician fix may be way more than you want to pay or the machine is worth.

Best of luck with your repair,

How do i get the needle to stop moving when winding the bobbin?

Most machines will have a smaller wheel inside the handwheel that you turn towards the front of the machine, while holding the larger outer handwheel. If the needle still moves after doing this you'll need to work oil through the handwheel bushing.

Hi, in my singer 1725, when i start sewing the needle is stuck its not moving but the sound of machine is there, like it ON but the area of the needle is not moving. please help me.

I had this problem and all I did was put some sewing machine oil in behind the bobbin and it loosened up and ran like a charm.

Tesco ej09 sewing machine - handwheel wont turn

I actually had the same problem, it turned out that after threading a bobbin I'd forgot to slide the bobbin holder back into place (just push it to the left) Hope this helps

Tacsew 950 suddenly siezed up. Handwheel doesn't turn, main shaft doesn't turn, needle stuck in one position, bobbin mechanism doesn't rotate. Nothing moves. I have examined machine very...

This happened to me. I took apart the bobbin and there were no threads stuck. It moved freely, but the hand wheel was still stuck. So I checked the belt between the handwheel and the motor. I tugged on it (while the machine is off) and tugged on the belt to turn the handwheel. It took a couple tuggs to make the handwheel move, but once it started moving, it seemed to unfreeze. And I was back to normal. I can’t tell you what happened, but it’s fine now.
