Remove the memory card from the camera, look along the one edge for a tiny switch, slide it towards the contacts to unlock the card, the switch farthest from the contacts is in the locked position to prevent deletion. Now! if the card is in the unlocked position slide it back forth to reset the card, if it fails the card should be replaced.

Take a look at the SD card. On the left side of it, there's a small plastic switch. Make sure it's switched to the upper position. If that doesn't help, the mechanical switch inside the camera that detects if the SD card is locked, is broken. It has to be taken apart to repair it - you will have to give it to a technician.

Be sure you have a standard SD card to put into this camera, not a SDHC type.
You will be limited to a maximum of 2GB with SD, but it should work perfectly.
If not, check the SD card in a notebook or PC's cardreader and/or replace the
SD card with another one. If this does not work the SD card interface in the
camera may be defective.

Memory card

You may use any MMC or SD card, 2GB or smaller. MMC cards are nearly extinct to an SD card will be easier to find. You don't have to worry about the brand or speed, though personally I'd go with the major brands.
Make sure you get an SD card, 2GB or smaller. The S600 will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

What is card is locked

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Card is locked

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. Slide it fully away from the contacts, then fully toward them. The position nearest the contacts is the unlocked setting.

Hi,just bought a 4gb sd card for my digimax s600 but it won,t work.when i switch on camera, screen says..format..yes.confirm ok.when i do this i get check sd card . i put in old card it works fine??..

Does your camera support SD HC? Anything above a 2gb SD card is concider a HC; so if your camera can't support HC format then you can not use that card.

The camera wont work with a 4gb sd-card............why?

The S600 is designed to work with MMC and SD cards, which top out at 2GB. It is not designed to work with the newer high-capacity SDHC cards.
