Coby 22in. TV/DVD Combo Digital Ready My dad just purchased this TV and all worked fine. He did not have a cable service. Then TV dropped channel 12 followed by CH.8 a couple weeks later. Entering the CH manually results in the "No signal" box. Rescanning channels via TV menu results in TV skipping both channels as if they don't exist, just like their customer service department. . Workaround involves hooking up a digital converter box. Any ideas other than throwing it in the garbage? Their products are garbage which Coby is quite aware of as they don't respond at all to inquiries. Thank you very much in advance for any advice.

Do a factory reset to this TV, and then check. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.

SOURCE: Coby 22in. TV/DVD Combo Digital

You could just reset back to factory defaults and let it rescan for the channels again.

I cancelled my cable and switched to Netflix. I'm trying to set up an antenna so I can grab channels 6, 10. and 12.....but I can't find a TV Antenna that will grab service to access these...

First, you can only get digital channels now,so you must have a tv that can receive digital. You can buy digital tv antennas that can receive about 70 miles that mount outside or in your attic. This FCC site can show you where to point the antenna to get the best signal:" https://www.fcc.gov/media/engineering/dtvmaps
Also you can get a signal booster that will help if you can get a minimal signal. The booster will only amplify a signal so if you cant get one at all it won't help.

Would like to record from my tv to my magnavox dvd/vcr combo box

If I understand your request right, You do not have cable or satellite box.
You can not record from your TV. You use the TV as a monitor from the dvd/vcr combo box. What the box receives is what shows on the TV. So you will have to have a digital convertor hooked to the (antenna in) dvd/vcr combo box, (antenna out to the tv antenna in) Depending on the antenna you are using that is on the other end of your cable-in coax connection this will hook to your antenna in on the digital convertor box. If your cable is hooked up and operating correctly and directly to the tv that is digital ready you probabbly have a good picture. When the vhf/uhf signal was transmitted you could go from the dvd/vcr to the tv with no problem. But now that the signal is digital and the tv is set for digital the dvd/vcr will not pass a digital signal to the tv. Best suggestion, you have to get a digital dvd/vcr receiver. If you have more question please contact me.

I CAN NOT GET ALL 5 SPEAKERS TO WORK

I know this is not the answer that you want to hear, but: That television is not capable of delivering audio output to all 5 speakers - it is a stereo-only TV, which only delivers 2 channels.

Furthermore, that Coby DVD-937 only has Digital Audio outputs rather than inputs, which is very strange and complicates our problem immensely. You will get 5-channels with DVD or radio play, but getting 5 channels for TV is not possible without additional equipment.

The manual for the Coby mentions a "Digital Decoder Amplifier," which would work. You would connect a digital audio cable from the area marked "Coaxial" on the back of the Coby to a digital audio IN on the back of an external amplifier. You would connect the speakers to this amplifier, instead of directly to the back of the Coby. Then you would need a cable or satellite box with digital audio outs (fairly common nowadays) to another digital audio IN on the back of the amplifier. The cable or sat box you may have already, but you may need to purchase such a "Digital Decoder Amplifier" or other digital amplifier with appropriate speaker wires and 2 digital audio input slots (not to mention two digital audio cables). Fairly complex. Possibly expensive.

No audio

You will only get stereo sound from that TV matched with that Coby instead of full surround sound, without purchasing additional equipment.

Yes, you need an antenna -- rabbit ears or some other type of digital antenna.

Record a digital channel while watching and analog channel

Take a red, white, and yellow AV cable and plug it from the AV out of the cable box to the red, white, and yellow In of the dvd recorder (change cable box to the channel you want to record). Then change your TV to the channel you want to view.

Have fun!
