When the headset is plugged in the red light will come on for about 10 sec and then go off, however when you try to pair it to the ps3 nothing happens. After unplugging the headset from the charging cord when you hold down the power button the red light comes on for about 10 sec and then goes off and nothing else happens!

You need to keep holding down the power button after the red light turns off. Your lights will flash rapidly when you are in pairing mode.

I have a mad catz mw2 8860 that was given to me how do i make it work with my system if it was being used with another? from the start i know nothing about this device

You have to pair it with your PS3 or another device through BlueTooth.

Pairing is a process of associating Bluetooth devices with each other. It will establish a permanent security link between the devices and enable quick access to the services provided without the need to re-enter Pass Keys. You will only need to pair your PS3 and the Headset once.

Paired devices remain paired even when:
-One of the devices is powered off.
-A service connection is interrupted or stopped.
-One or both devices are restarted.

Pairing the Headset with the PS3
Before the Headset can be used with the PS3, the two devices must be 'paired' so they can communicate with each other. Use a gaming controller for this procedure and ensure that the Headset is powered on (flashing blue LED light) and that it is not being charged via USB cable.

1. Power on your PS3 console.

2. Within the "Settings" menu, press X on "Accessory Settings."

3. Press X on the icon labeled: "Manage Bluetooth® Devices."

4. Scroll down and press X on the icon labeled: "Register New Device."

IMPORTANT: Depending on your model of the 8860 Bluetooth® Headset, your power button is either an oval shape with an icon of a circle with a line going through it (5a) or it is a button with a phone icon (5b). Please follow the appropriate next step depending on your model of the 8860.

5a. Once at the next screen, prepare the Headset to be paired with the PS3 by holding down the K1 button until the LED flashes Blue and Red (hold K1 approx 12 seconds).

5b. Once at the next screen, prepare the Headset to be paired with the PS3 by tapping the pairing button located next to the volume controls on the side until the LED flashes BOTH Blue and Red.

6. Once the Headset's LED indicator is alternately flashing Blue and Red (indicating the Headset is ready to be paired), press X on "Start Scanning."

7. Once Scan is complete, the PS3 will recognize all Bluetooth devices within range.

8. Locate "8860" from the list of available devices and press X on its icon to be prompted for a Pass Key

9. Enter 0000 (four zeros) as the Pass Key and press X on OK

10. You should then be taken to a new screen stating: "Register completed"

I am having trouble pairing my plantronics voyager 520 to my PS3. I turn on the bluetooth headset, and am scanning for bluetooth devices on my PS3, and nothing is coming up.

Hold the power button for 6-10 seconds when ps3 is searching- light will flash red and blue on the headset-- good luck getting it to work in Black Ops though.
