I have an E521T Active Smart Fisher & Paykel top freezer fridge (6 year old). I have had trouble with water leaking from beneath the freezer bottom and collecting in the bottom of fridge. Have cleaned and checked collection tray at back, also cleaned out dust etc. Have managed to access the drain pipe and blown through and cleaned it. How do I gain access to the evaporator defrost heater & freezer fan?

It is behind the plastic panel at the back of the freezer, usually just clips in and pulls out

I would reset the module. Open the fridge door, keep the freezer door closed, then press the mode button (located on the display panel. This will re initiate the electronics

SOURCE: F&P Active Smart E521TRE Removing freezer back panel

My fridge (E440T but I believe the E522B is similar) had a broken fan wire and i had to pull off the rear panel and re-solder a wire. I created a document for others to follow that shows the rear panel removal if interested at http://www.accentis.com.au/downloads/misc/How I fixed my Fisher and Paykel Fridge Active Smart Fridge.pdf

Thanks to all postings on this site - it really helped a lot.

Yes, you are correct, that is a drain. Use a turkey baster with hot (not boiling) water to flush out the drain tube until water will flow out into the drain pan under the refrig. (where the air blown over it will cause it to evaporate)

SOURCE: ice building in freezer and water leaking in the fridge section

I will say that you may have to call someone in, but it is most likely the thermostat for the freezer, when the freezer reaches setpoint, that stat will kick the compressor off, but it sounds like yours is running until it the coils freeze, which brings another problem in hand is a dirty coil. Those two are your best bet. Best of luck!!

Have they cleaned the drain tube that runs down the back of the fridge? If not and the tube is clogged water will back up and give you the problem that you are having. The only other thing that I can think of, is that the defrost cycle may not be set to a minimum amount of time to where this can be increased to allow the freezer not to let the ice build up.

Leaking water inside fridge

With mine I turned it off for 24 hours until totally defrosted. Checked behind the panel of the freezer and removed one stubborn piece of ice. When I restared the fridge it was all good. I have this problem when we have had a lot of humid weather.
