Thank you for using FixYa. Is the cord cut near the iron end or the outlet end? could the cord be shortened? A new cord can be purchased at most reasonable hardware stores and with a little care and attention can be replaced yourself.

Hope this has been of some help.

My iron went nuts and got way to hot. I shut off and the next morning it would not heat up. What to do?

I would say you throw it away and buy a new one. The heating element probably shorted out, overheated and is burned out. Too expensive and not worth the effort to repair.....

No power from cord. I want to replace the cord.

In replacing the cord, you have to remove the screw that holds the back cover and unscrew the damaged cord from the heater terminal. Insert the new cord on the rubber insulator and screw it to the heater terminal.

How to change the cord of the iron ?

Remove the back plate where the cord attaches to the iron... there are 4 screws visible and another 2 screws hidden under the two rubber feet...These are joined together by a rubber strip and can be removed by prying up and out with a small pry.... once the cover is removed you will see where to take the old cord off and replace it with a new one..

I need to replace the cord on my steam iron. Can i bring it someplace to have it replaced or can i do this myself?

If you can use a screwdriver you can probably do it yourself. Take all the screws out of the handle which should allow you to get to the cord. Determine how they have it attached to your unit. If it is spade lugs there could be a problem. If it is soldered there could be a problem. If they are screwed on we can proceed. Remove the wires and hookup your new cord which could be an old extension cord which is no longer any good. Put your unit back together and you should be good to go.
