Follow these steps to add the HP product to the list of devices.

1. On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon ( ), and then click All Programs .
2. Click the HP folder.
3. Click the Printers folder.
4. Click Add a Device .
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Please go to device manager check the status of drivers please.

May be they need a reload.

please remove all catridge
clean inside on the catrdge place space
put back the catridge

for future refs: if the paper type and size (in this case checks) is set up correctly in the software that you are using to create the checks, perhaps it would help to check the printer settings. this link at hp support might help you then:

it includes checking and changing print settings and stopping a print job. (-and no one wants to waste checks!) -JW50
