My error edifyguy, the lines were only horizontal. as for your reply, thank you so much for your efforts.

i am looking at several photos I printed and quite frankly i can not tell the difference, the lines appears to be consistent regardless of the colors used. it is the same with all photos and the lines match the color that is intended to be in that particular location, however there is a line that is dark followed by a lighter line, so on and so forth for any and every color being printed.

the line calibration I did more describes the look I am seeing on the paper.

Also, do you know where I can get parts? one of the little wheel with the spring that feeds the paper into the double side printing to the rear of my printer. This inhibits my ability to do double side printing as it will not catch.

let me know and thanks for your help

Sounds like one or more of your printheads is worn out. They are designed to be user replaceable, and wear out after a certain amount of usage.

Black is obvious, but if the lines are purplish, your yellow head is bad. If they're greenish, your magenta head is bad. If they're reddish, your cyan head is bad.

Vertical lines are very unusual. Can you scan a printout and post it somewhere that we can look at it?

Printing horizontal solid lines across paper - have done all diagnostic testing but still solid lines across paper.

Hi

Well it is possible that the nozzles are clogged. You did good in troubleshooting the issue, normally head cleaning cycle will resolve that, but if it fails and out of warranty. Best suggestion is to get a new one since head cleaning cycle from printer settings will consume a lot of ink and not a guarantee to work in printers behaving like what you are getting when printing.

Thanks for using Fixya!

Canon MP980 prints horizontal pink lines across

try to change the color ink. horizontal banding (the pink or other color lines appearing means horizontal banding) when there is a problem on one of the heating element of the printer head. since almost all canon printers have head built in the inks, replacing the faulty ink will solve the problem. if not then the controller of printhead on the carriage and mainboard needs to be checked.

Horizontal lines and tones specks around text

Only known causes are a dirty corona wire or a dirty/bad drum. If you know the drum is good, a thorough cleaning of the drum and cleaning the corona wire should clear up your printing.

HP Bus Inkjet 2800 won't print 11x17 with Vista

Many people had a similar problem with the Color Inkjet cp1700 B-size printer.

Another solution that worked for some people was installing the hp deskjet 9800 printer driver.

It appears what you need is a patched .gpd file for the BI 2800.
Try emailing Bob Headrick, who has done these patches. (Thanks Bob)!
Be sure to put Vista and Large Format Printing 11x17 in the subject line.

You'd think between HP and MS, they'd have this working right out of the box.
Did they think people would buy a B-size printer so they could hook it up to Vista and then not want to print mainly B-size documents?
They would have had happier customers if they would have included B-size support but left out A-size!
Amazing!

Good Luck
