Try reinstalling the video driver, make sure you have the latest correct version (ie. XP or Vista).
You might need to download the video driver from the Toshiba WEB site, and make sure you select the correct model laptop.

try to check the speakers or microphone lines and jacks whether they are connected properly . if still does not work, then check the audio settings under sound and devices in control panel.
If still makes no difference , then try reinstalling the audio drivers via the CD that was provided to you or u can find the drivers on http://www.toshiba.com or http://www.driverfiles.net/Notebooks/Toshiba/Tecra-9100/download/page,sh,31396,221,19,.html

seems like the mainboards are screwed

BUT

all is not lost

I Buy toshibas with this fault for my family and send them to a nice bloke (ex toshiba Tech ) who fixes them fo £45 I can get a good working lappy for 75 - 80 quid

search on ebay for Toshiba Tecra 9000 / 9100 laptop repairs
