Hello, We can receive faxes but can no longer send faxes from our HP laserjet 3390. The display window shows a 9 infront of the number we are trying to fax, dials that number and then does not complete the fax/send after numerous tries. All other functions are working well. Please advise! June V.

HP LaserJet 3050, 3055, 3390, 3392 AiO Product - How to Print a FAX Confirmation Report Description By default, a Fax Confirmation report (Fax Call Report) will only print when a fax error occurs. However, this option can be changed using the printer control panel.

Press the right arrow until Reports appears in the display, press the checkmark.
Press the right arrow until Fax Call Report appears in the display, press the checkmark.
Press the right arrow until Print Report appears in the display, press the checkmark.
Right arrow to the option of choice, press the checkmark to save the change.

FAX call report options

Send Fax Only - a confirmation sheet will only print when a fax is sent
Never - no fax confirmation sheets
Every Error - default setting
Send Error - a fax confirmation prints when the fax transmission encounters an error
Every Fax - a fax confirmation sheet will print for incoming

First thing you want to confirm is whether any of these people who could send to you before have made changes such as moving to VOIP phone service as supplied by most cable companies. Fax support in VOIP is sketchy at best. Or perhaps you have just switched to VOIP. You can try to slow down the speed of the fax as the default is 33kB and 14.4kB might provide more reliabilty. I am not near my manuals right now so I do not recall the exact key sequence to get to the fax speed setting. If you need it, post an additional comment and I will post the key sequence tomorrow.

We can't receive faxes and when we send them they all say no answer HP Laserjet 3390, I have installed a new catridge and still will not work

Program it to try to send a FAX to your cell-phone, to see if sending a "test" FAX will cause your cell-phone to ring. If not, then investigate why.

Your 3390 will only scan by using the Windows scanning software, the HP solutions do not work on Windows 7.

This is how you can scan from your 3390, assuming you have been able to get it working for printing on your system.

Click the Windows ( ) icon.
Click All Programs .
Click Windows Fax and Scan .
Click New Scan , and then click Scan .

How do I set automatic fax receipt?

If you got a satisfactory solution to the fax receipt issue, I would surely appreciate your sharing it with me. I don't think that any HP all-in-ones will give you a receipt from the recipient. I need this too.
Maybe I will reinstall Win Fax

Navigate through the menu on the printer to "delete" the oldest received/sent FAX files.

You can set as Fax only mode in fax configuration and set the ringing count to one. ring then it l give fax tone automatically.after that u check from any other number and verify it.

You have to go into the settings on the fax machine. There will be an option for a prefix number. Someone put a 9 in there. Having the 9 in there will make it dial a 9 then the number you are trying to faxt too. Remove the 9.

So your fax machine defaults are set to dial a "9" before the number and you want to change this setting - am I correct?

If you are using the fax machine without connecting it to a pc, then you can change the default settings by using the keys on the printer. Go to "menu" and press it, then use the up and down arrows to navagate the choices until you see "fax set up" and then push "ok" or "enter". Then continue scrolling with the arrow keys until you see "my location" or "set up dialing".

If you are using the fax machine through the pc and its connected tot he pc, then the default dialing options are probably set in the computer. If this is the case, go to your control panel, look for phone & modem and click on it. Then browse the set up choices until you find the area code and dialing prefix entered for your location and correct it to what it should be.
