Hi, I hope you can help me. I have a Panasonic PV-DV953D plamcorder. I installed all the software and the USB driver but I still cannot transfer or download the video to my pc. I tried it both on two pc's, one with windows xp and the other with vista. I tried the muvee auto producer with the xp and the windows movie maker with the vista. Both programs do not recognize or connect through the USB connection.
Go to Camera Menu and enable USB option, so PC will recognize it.
This is what you can do.
1) You can download & upload movie thru Firewire on miniDV tape.
2) You can take MPEG4 video on SD card only.
3) You can download & upload still picture and MPEG4 thru USB.
You use firewire (iLink) to access miniDV tape.
You use USB to access SD card and web video thing.
DV953 (MX5000/500) is very high end camcorder. They can do almost everything
that most of camcorder do.
Just don't expect too much for MPEG4 video.
Try this option also you have to use firewire(DV) cable and DV input in
your computer to import video to PC at least .
Hope this may help;

Hi...
I was in the same problem, I tryed a lots of step.
But a called customer service.
And they told me. with the USB cable is possible only transfer
Pictures. No videos from a MINIDV camcorder...
The Way that you can Transfer is using a Home DVD recorder.
Connecting the RCA cables at the DVD recorder you can tranfer to a DVD DISK.
Or at the same way to a VCR.
But you can get a VIDEO TRANSFER KIT. on any Office suply.
IS a little box connected at the Computer by USB. with a RCA INPUT to connect the VIDEO Camcorder.
I hope this help on your question. Thank's.
Heck if usb port is working if it is try this go to my computer, right click then click properties, hardware, device manager, action, then click scan for hardware device
Did you put the camcorder in the VCR mode and make sure it is turned on, so you can transfer the video?

This did not help. And why do I have to reinstall the USB driver every time I plug it in?
