PRESS RELEASE
Release Date: 12 January 2004

Fujifilm today announced that a number of early FinePix S7000 Zoom digital cameras may experience battery power depletion when used with some CompactFlash™ memory cards.

This fault does not occur when the S7000 is used with either an xD-Picture Card™ or a Microdrive™, nor does it occur in any other Fujifilm products that offer a CompactFlash™ storage facility, such as the FinePix S2 Pro, S602, S602 Pro or M603.

Cameras with serial numbers above 34L60001 (inclusive) were produced after 15 December 2003 and therefore will definitely not experience this battery drain problem.

In the short term, the problem can be avoided by unloading then re-loading the batteries just after the camera is switched off. The camera's power supply will then perform normally.

Quick battery drain with Finepix S7000. Only about 25 shots!

See if there's a firmware download on the support section of the Fuji website.

Quick battery drain

No sorry to say this is normal for this camera! you may want to look for rechargable lithium batterys (they will last longer in a high drain device such as your camera!

My friend and I both have the fuji finepix s7000. We bought the cameras within a week of each (May 2004). Last week my friends camera started doing the same thing you discribed. Yesterday my camera also started doing the same thing. I have been trying to contact fuji, but due to the blizzard I am unable to. I was wondering what ever happened with your camera. When did you buy yours and where. One of our cameras was bought at Best Buy and the other at Sears. It just seems funny that both cameras were bought at the same time and both broke at the same time.

The batteries were drained in my FinePix S7000 camera whthe camera was not in use.

The CompactFlash card may have caused the batteries to drain. Some solid state CompactFlash cards consume power while inserted in the FinePix S7000 even if the camera is turned OFF. Fujifilm recommends removing the CompactFlash card when the camera is not in use. Microdrives and xD-Picture Cards do not exhibit this problem.
