Hi. I have a brand new Benchmark Premiere 6 11068 popcorn machine. Ever since the first time using the machine the kettle smokes up. It smokes the entire 5 minutes while heating up and continues to smoke during the popcorn popping. The corn pops great, just alot of smoke. The popcorn tastes stale but is brand new. We have let the machine run 30 min in the garage seeing if the "newness" of it burns off but that didn't work. Called the Benchmark tech, he couldn't help me. Not sure what to do. The smell is a plastic burning smell but can't find the source. Please advise. Thanks.

Could be that the bowel had a thin plastic protection on it when new that should have been peeled off before starting it up
could be a wire touching the hot bowel and melting
what ever , it is under warranty so take it to a service dealer or authorized repair shop and have it checked out
smoke and smell are food contaminants so the cause has to be found for safety reasons

SOURCE: Kettle Keeps jolting out of place

Popcorn popper is approximately three weeks old and now the popcorn clogs up in the hopper (cooker pot), the gear quits turning, and we have to pry the popcorn out. It worked perfectly when we first got it and now it is nothing but a pain to use. We tried several popcorns, cooking oils and amounts of oils, but the problem continues. I noticed the small spring located on the lower shaft doesn't cover the entire shaft. Is it supposed to be longer? Your prompt reply for a solution would be greatly appreciated or we will have to return the unit to our local retailer where we purchased it.

SOURCE: need popcorn popper kettle for ccp-509 popper

adavis_NPG had the right number for Nostalgia Group. The price was $35.00 including shipping when I ordered it.
920-347-9122 is the correct number to call. I got disconnected the first try and had to call back so be patient if it happens to you. The person who answered was very helpful and very friendly.

New kettle for the gay 902 whiz bang popper

Yes you can purchase new kettles complete or just the bottom half most of the time with the gold medal brand. When you see the prices you may want to consider repairing or rebuilding it. That's what I do unless there are so many parst needed that a new one would make more sense because I believe you will get a warranty with the complete kettle?

Will thermostat stop kettle from overheating and blowing thermal fuse

The thermostat built into the kettle stops the kettle from heating at a prescribed temperature. usually around 425 F. This is hot enough to smoke and cause instant burns, but is the required temp for popping popcorn.

I do not know of a "thermal fuse" built into popcorn machines. Mechanical thermo stats are not flawless. they can and do malfunction, either too cold or too hot. the model popper you have is not adjustable, or repairable.

If you are tripping a electrical circuit breaker that is a different problem not related to kettle heat. It is a symptom of an overloading problem of your outlet, or a ground fault in the popcorn popper.

Kettle does not work

you have probably re-wired the switch incorrectly or there is water in the wiring and the circuit is shorting, causing the fuses to blow. Also, is your electricity supply 120v or 240v?

I have a Gold Medal Popcorn Machine 2086. The kettle is uncleanable. Where can I purchase a new Kettle?

I hate to put this as a solution because it really isn't. I have an old popper needing a new kettle and was told it was almost as much to purchase a new kettle than the whole machine. The kettle is almost the entire cost of the unit. I will be purchasing a new unit.

Popcorn maker

When Popper Has Popped Corn Just Before.
1. Pour the properly measure amount of Oil into the kettle.
2. Wait about 45 seconds - or until the Oil in the kettle starts to smoke slightly.
3. Pour the contents of the properly measured corn cup (kernels plus popcorn salt or Flavacol) into the kettle.
4. Wait about 2 1/2 minutes. If you are using a pan on the stove without an agitator, you must constantly shake gently. When the crackling noise of the popping corn is no longer heard, dump the kettle and empty it completely.
5. Repeat if needed for more popcorn.
6. When you are finished popping, turn off the kettle agitator switch (if you have one) and turn off the Pilot light/ heat switch.
7. After the machine has cooled enough so as not to be dangerously hot, wipe the outside of the kettle with a soft damp cloth. This helps prevent a heavy build-up of the Oil.

TIPS
- Bagged floss keeps a day or two, depending on the humidity
- Use bags to make and display cotton candy in advance - use cones for immediate sales
- Unless you're experienced, it's best to turn off the motor to refill the spinner head
- If machine will be used more than 20ft. from power source, be sure to have an adequate extension cord
