My gamestop wireless ps2 controller doensn't respond to commands. The light on the sensor blinks intermittently and the light on the controller blinks when I press a button, but I can't get them to communicate with each other.

The thing with buying used is you gamble with what the previous owner did to it. Try blowing into the receiver, the controller slot, wiping the sensors, basically cleaning all that's involved in connection. There may be dust or dirt or something interfering with the connection, as in not everything is getting connection.

Should have come with a controller and a wireless adapter. The wireless adapter plugs into the PS2 where the controller would go. Probably has a sync button. Press it (the light will flash) and press the corresponding sync button on the controller. When the lights stop flashing on both it should be all set. Tough tell without a model number, though.

take out the battery and put back in when you want to play

If the light on the controller is flashing then the batteries are still good. There is a small reset button on the receiver that came with the controller. use a needle to reset it while it is still in the ps2. make sure that the ps2 is turned on and the green light is flashing on it. it should blink a few times and then the light on the controller should turn red. once it does then press start and your good to go.

There should be a seek/connect button on both the controller and the Playstation. Press both buttons about the same time and see if they find each other.

Try blowing into the controllers plug and then blow into the slot in the ps2

make sure you put batteries in the controller
also if you bought a new controller cuz you lost your old card or something take the batteries out of the old one itll interfere
and you have to press an action button on the controller
(the x,circle,square,and triangle buttons)
if all else fails use your old dual shock and trade the cordless into gamestop for a used controller
(if it wont work theyll replace it for free)
